"The Slums of Novato"
Let's be fair: the "slums" of Novato is a relative term for this affluent Marin County town. It is nothing compared to downtown San Rafael or Marin City, for that matter. However, it is right off the highway and has little more than a few gas stations, a taqueria-turned-coffee-shop, and a Dollar Tree.
The whole of it feels a bit run-down and industrial, especially given the fact that it is located in the affluent town of Novato (which, as a whole, is one of the richest towns in one of the wealthiest counties in the United States).
Real estate may be a bit cheaper, but you are still stuck with a Novato price tag for a very run-of-the mill neighborhood. My advice? Head north to Sonoma, where you will get more for your money (without the 101 running through your backyard).
