"Fabulous street for the on-the-go, cross-city driver"
This street goes the distance-literally. If you’re like the millions of people juggling work, school, a social life and scraping up enough hours in the day to cram in sleep just to do it all over again, any advice on how to get from point A to point B 10 minutes or more ahead of the rest, is a blessing. That brings me to my “diamond in the rough street” I discovered during my time as a full-time employee/full-time night student. Working in Orange and having to make it to class in Costa Mesa in under an hour seemed more than reasonable on paper. Add to that the inevitable jam of rush hour traffic though and you’ll be lucky to make it in a little over an hour and that was just unacceptable for me. Long story short a friend recommended I take Fairview Rd. one night, which I was skeptical how the street would beat the convenience of the freeway to Costa Mesa but boy, was I wrong! I NEVER took the freeway to school again. The stretch of Fairview Rd. clear to Adams Ave. was heaven, compared to the nightmare of the 5 frwy, the 55 frwy and the 405 frwy it took to get to class. It took some getting used to the flow of traffic lights but there were days I even had a few extra minutes to spare and pick up a burger before school and that was the cherry on top of my Fairview Rd. sundae.
