Filbert St
"The True Heart of Philadelphia"
Just a short walk from the Market East regional rail station, the bustling Reading Terminal Market is one of the best places to shop, eat or simply people watch in the whole city. With its wealth of eateries ranging from the standard fast food joints, to the ubiquitous deli sandwich places, you can get a bit of whatever you feel like. Of course many variations on that local favorite, the Cheese Steak are available. For those who prefer to do your people watching with a glass in your hand, there is even a beer garden.

Filbert St
"Home of Reading Terminal Market, one of the best places in the city"
On Filbert Street, between 11th and 12th Streets, sits Reading Terminal Market, which, in my opinion, is one of the best places in the city for locals and tourists alike. The Market consists of a number of eateries as well as booths selling anything from fresh meat, to produce, wine, chocolates or flowers. Tourists stop in for lunch and locals come here to get some of the only fresh produce that seems to make it into the city. Also, in this area is the Convention Center as well as Chinatown slightly more to the east. Between these three destinations, this is a must visit for everyone that passes through Philadelphia.

Filbert St
"Happening Center City Street"
While not considered one of the major streets in center city, you can find two very important attractions here.
The first is the Criminal Justice Center at 13th and Filbert. If your lucky enough to get called for Jury Duty, this is likely where you'll report. However, as a reward for your civic duty, Filbert St rewards you with the Reading Terminal Market just two blocks east. At the RTM you can eat at any number of bakeries, delis, creperies, barbecues, produce stands, diners and more. (And yes, there's even a beer garden).
Both of these sites are less than a minute walk from the Market East Station of the Regional Rail.
