"The best example of upper-middle-class suburbia"
The foothills of Pleasanton have always been the most expensive part of the town - and Pleasanton is one of the most expensive towns in California. Foothill Road is lined with gated communities, tennis clubs/sports clubs, one of the best malls in the Bay Area and also one of the best public high schools. If your McMansion is actually on the hill, you'll enjoy panoramic views of Pleasanton and the Valley.
It's boring if you don't have a family and if you don't love the suburban lifestyle though. It's also not necessarily a warm and welcoming place. Be prepared for neighbors who take time to decide whether they want to hang out with you. And even then, it might just be in a superficial way.
Over the past 10-20 years, I've noticed Foothill Road has become predominantly Indian. Saris and BMWs is a good summary of what the scene is like around here.
