In comparison to a larger city, such as Denver, it's much less comprehensive. However, Fort Collins continues to make improvements all the time. Currently, Fort Collins only uses buses - Transfort - (there's no subway or light rail system) and there are many major routes throughout the various parts of town. The limitations to the buses is that many routes only stop once every hour; however, some of the more popular routes do have stops every 15 minutes or half hour. The hours of operation are a bit limited - although, this past year Transfort implemented two new "late night" routes from Old Town through the residential neighborhoods on the north end of town. Another exciting new addition will be the Max system that they plan to implement in 2014. The Max will basically run up and down Mason Street, which makes it easy for folks to get into Old Town quickly. I think their goal is to get you from the South FTC station into Old Town in 20 minutes (which is far quicker than driving when you consider that you usually have to drive around for a good 20 minutes just looking for a parking space in Old Town!). Overall, I would say that there are options, although not yet a lot, but Transfort continues to make public transportation more accesible for all.
