"Charming Cow-Town"
Graton Rd. is your standard Western Sonoma County cow-town area, but there is a certain charm to it. You will see plenty of cow pastures, and one little stretch of something resembling a main drag that offers several bars and a gas station. Eventually, the road takes you up into the redwood forest toward Occidental, which completely changes the atmosphere of the road (not in a good or bad way).
The well-farmed stretches of the road are quite manageable and usually do not hold too much traffic; the forested section is a different story. While you will rarely come across other cars, it is perhaps because they are afraid of getting carsick and avoid the area as such.
Like much of Western Sonoma County, you will not have much in terms of cell phone reception.
