"Best area to live in! Drive by and see for yourself; it's a beautiful area in the city."

Best area in Houston to live in. I've lived here for 3 years, and I'm staying. It's very neighborly with beautiful landscaping, clean sidewalks/bike trails, and private schools/churches. Uptown/Memorial has multi-million dollar homes with extra security patrol driving around all hours. You pay extra for the safety, but it's worth it. Safe neighborhood and close to city offices, shopping, and restaurants. Uptown is like a younger River Oaks...like River Oaks in it's mid-30's, if that helps. Anyway, I would recommend this area for upper middle class+ families, "new money" individuals, and professionals. There's a new HEB being built on San Felipe and Fountainview. I believe construction should be completed Fall 2015.
Pros
  • safe & clean
  • located near city offices, shopping, nightlife
  • great schools and churches
Cons
  • pricy real estate
  • little bit of traffic

"Best of all things in Houston"

We just bought a place in the Briargrove subdivision off of San Felipe and we love the area. I happen to work in the Galleria area too so the commute is perfect. The Greater Uptown is perfect for everyone really. There are alot of restaurants, bars and shopping to satisfy most anybody. The schools are great depending on which schools you are zoned to in the area. Whether you want a highrise condo or a spralling mansion, you can find it in this part of town. The cost of living and rents are pretty high compared to some other areas but that is because of the desireability of the area. Being just outside the loop you can get to anywhere reasonably easily (depending on traffic). I highly recommend you check out Uptown when looking for a place to settle down.

"Perfect place for trendy singles and young couples"

A trendy, updated area of Houston nestled among The 610 Loop, 59-The Southwest Freeway, and Interstate 10-The Katy Freeway is Greater Uptown. Located in a prime Houston area, perfect for shopping, working, and dining; this chic upscale neighborhood is the place to be. You will find major Houston roadways in this area including San Felipe Street and Chimney Rock. Tree lined roadways and active home owners can be found exercising at local parks or having brunch at patio dining spots. However, the majority of Houston employers are located in the nearby Galleria area, which can cause traffic and congestion at peak travel times during the week.

Close to Midtown & Downtown Houston, Greater Uptown is the perfect spot for singles and young couples. This is one of the best areas of Houston for nightlife, and is home to many of the famous bars and clubs. Being close to Memorial Park you will find setback areas filled with joggers, dog walkers, and even fitness boot camp groups. There are a vast amount of major employers in the area since it is close to The Galleria. Grade school students residing in this area will attend HISD schools, which tend to have a bad reputation, but there are a variety of private schools to choose from if your pocketbook allows.
