"One block street"
Marketfield is a tiny, one-block stretch of a street, so there's not a whole hell of a lot to say about it. It starts at Broad Street with, interestingly, Wall Street Kitchen and Bar. I've never been to this place, but there aren't a ton of restaurants around here and I like the building. I mean, the name is stupid, but the building is old and that's usually all I need to try a place if I'm in the area. Across the street from the restaurant is the former site of the Delmonico Boarding House. The Delmonicos had a restaurant that is one of the most famous in New York History which was destroyed in a fire in 1835. The boardinghouse on this block was destroyed by another fire just 10 years later. Talk about a flash in the pan for this poor family.
The next block of Marketfield is an art space used for performances and general arty gatherings. I think it's a weird neighborhood for this kind of thing but I commend them for trying to bring some culture into the Fidi. There's not a lot of that running around here.
You can't live on Marketfield and there's not a ton going on in this one block street. But, there is an actual restaurant and a weird arty space, so they did try to pack a lot into a little for things to do. I give them props for that.
