"Standard Shopping Center"
Scotts Village Shopping Center is a pretty average, nondescript shopping center with a CVS, a McDonald's and a bank - but it does have one standout factor - Coffee Cat has, arguably, the best coffee in Scotts Valley, offering a great selection of brews and some decent breakfast pastries.
The center is right off the highway, easy to find, and adjacent to the Scotts Valley Golf Course - which is somewhat indicative of the affluent area that it is in.
Traffic around the area is moderate, and there is an abundance of parking. It is certainly not the most exciting shopping center but it does the trick, depending on what you need.

"Commercial Street in an Affluent Town"
Scotts Valley is a nice little town just up the hill from Santa Cruz, nestled in the mountains but easily accessible to the beach. Characteristics include redwoods, suburbia, good food - and money. Mt. Hermon Road does a very good job at serving the purpose of acting as a commercial street for this town.
This street is not residential, but rather, is home to several shopping plazas as well as the Scotts Valley library. Mercedez-Benz-es and BMWs are a common sight, as are wealthy elderly people in the shops. Further up the road, the street winds through the redwoods, although it is still strictly commuter and not residential. The drive is very pretty and characteristic of the Santa Cruz mountains.
