Newark Ave
"newark avenue (area near journal square)"
Note: Newark avenue is a long street in Jersey city with the street changing character as it winds its way through the city. Here I am reviewing the stretch near journal square.
This stretch is commonly referred to as "Indian street". No wonder. The entire street is filled with Indian restaurants, dosa huts, biriyani houses and Indian grocery stores. If you like Indian food or just have a fascination with South Asian culture, this street is for you. You can get all your Marsala and basmati here. Indian people, young and old, abound here with Gujarati predominating.
A little noisy and dirty at times, this street revels in its ethnic identity.
