North 10th St
"The Chinatown Gate"
This street runs right through Chinatown, and meets Arch Street with the historic Chinatown Gate. It's a great piece of art and history to view, but the street its on doesn't inspire feelings of friendship or camaraderie, as the gate is meant to suggest. The street is pretty dirty, with a lot of litter on the streets, and the people seem less than thrilled to have visitors among them. The scenery is fun, and great for people watching. There are a lot of businesses on this street, and as the name of the monument suggests, is home to mostly people of Asian ethnicity. As a white caucasian, I felt very out of place and almost unwelcome at times. It's a great place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there. I'm sure others' opinions differ, but that's my take.
