"As Busy as it Gets"
Water street is what I would say is "As busy as it gets". If there is a hotspot in downtown Milwaukee Water Street is it. There are bars and clubs for your weekend nights. There is the theatre for the artistically inclined. You are close to the arenas for sports entertainment. Everything is within walking distance.
Atmosphere is generally good and fun.

North Water St
"Home of the Symphony"
N Water Street can be quite busy because it is the location of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, a big attraction to city dwellers and visitors. Parking can be somewhat of a challenge, though there is a good parking structure nearby that usually has some vacancies. This is a great location because of the Symphony and the close access to great food. It is a nice place to be on a Friday or Saturday evening for some relaxation and entertainment.
