"Giving East Palo Alto the much-needed face lift"
To say that Ravenswood Shopping Center is not responsible for shifting the reputation of East Palo Alto from gang-ridden ghetto to family-friendly town would be a massive oversight. With stores like Best Buy, Nordstrom Rack, and IKEA, this has quickly become one of the most user-friendly areas in town and has significantly raised the property value of the area.
The clientele is diverse, as are the shops. It still has a bit of an East Palo Alto feel, but as the only IKEA in the South Bay (to my knowledge), it certainly draws a diverse crowd. Warning: If you miss the turn, you have to turn back around on University in order to get there, which can be a bit of a pain. It's also not very easy to find the on-ramp to 101 North. The traffic is congested almost 24 hours a day.
