"Has its ups and downs"
Santa Monica is a street that I'm kind of iffy about. There are some great things about it and some not so great things. There are some cool bars and restaurants on the SMB all the way across the city. I love Casablanca in Venice - it's this cheesy Mexican joint that has all of the movie paraphenalia. And, speaking of Mexican food, Don Antonios is just up the street and they have taco tuesdays. It's dirt cheap and really great. Plus, the vibe is always pretty good in there. The Beverly Hills area of SMB has some of the most options for food and drink. But, there are definitely other streets in the area that have better options.
Santa Monica is a very commercial street -- a lot of banks, grocery stores, car washes, etc. And, it is one of the slowest major streets in the city because of that. People trying to get in and out of these parking lots during rush hour (or any hour for that matter) creates a huge grid lock situation in what was already looking kind of bleak. I would never live on this street because it's way too loud. And, for some reason has an awful lot of homeless people and vagrants on it compared to other major streets in the area. This seems to hold up in no matter what part of the city you are in. Bizarre but true.

"The best street in town"
Takin' it to the streets is what Santa Monica is all about. Not settling for the serene indoor scene, people love visiting Santa Monica streets. An outdoor circus of activities and entertainment, when you first arrive in town, park the car right away and get walking.

"Lots to do and explore"
Santa Monica Blvd near Westwood is full of hustle and bustle and allows you many retail shops from restaurants to nail salons to big bookstores. Further down you have the mall at Westfield Century City. I think it’s a great mall to window shop since it has many designer stores that are pricey but interesting to see what trends they’re displaying. A very busy street you wouldn’t want to live on, but definitely experience and visit. Plus you can take the big blue bus to get you anywhere.
