"Great street to live on"
Fuller is a residential street -- no doubt about it -- but, it's still pretty hip and fun for something that is just predominantly lived on. The residences below Santa Monica are all small single family homes. Most of them are bunagalows and they are darling. They, for the most part, aren't much over 2,000 square feet if even that but they are very charming. A lot of them have been remodeled and the insides of these houses are so beautiful (with pools in the backyards). You would never know it from just the facade of the house.
North of Santa Monica is mostly apartment complexes. It's pretty dead-on half and half between old, crummy buildings and luxury buildings. But, all of them are semi-expensive. My best friend lives on Fuller between Sunset and Hollywood; and, this is a great location. The area isn't as tranquil as Fuller down by Melrose. But, it has Runyan Canyon right at the end of it. It's so nice to be able to walk out your door and go for an hour long hike / people watching uphill walk. Runyan gets a bad rap; but, don't kid yourself, this hike isn't exactly easy. And, the view from the top is pretty outstanding. If there were no smog you could probably see the ocean.
There are a ton of things to do that are walking distance from Fuller if not actually on it. The Groundlings (famous comedy theatre that most SNL people come out of) is right on Fuller and Melrose. There are a ton of restaurants walking distance from there as well. Rockin Ralphs is at Fuller and Sunset -- this Ralphs really always is jammin and there are a lot of actors and musicians who live in the area so it's sort of the "artiest" of the grocery stores. Parking's not great once you get about Santa Monica but it's not impossible. Just don't bet on any on weekend days because of Runyan. Neighborhood is also pretty quiet all things considered.

"Very nice experience I had"
I had lived here with a friend while I was on business for about 3 months and I enjoyed myself. While I am not sure if this is the area of L.A. that I would want to live in I sure understand why others would. It is a closely knit community with many people trying to make it in acting, like my roommate. There is plenty to do, but the rent is a little expensive and the apartments aren't that nice. It is great if you are trying to make it in the biz while enjoy the single life at the same time.
