"Typical of university city"
This area is located in the middle of University City which is part of West Philly. Overall, it is a convenient and descent place to live if your budget doesn't allow you to live in center city. Most of the area is small apartment buildings or large victorian houses that have been broken up into apartments. If you live directly on Spruce or Walnut Streets, it is much noisier and there is more traffic than in the area south of Spruce Street which is quieter. Parking is free on the street and is usually fairly easy to find. The area is within walking distance to the University of Pennsylvania and very close to the 42 bus route that runs downtown.

"The Heart of University City"
I've lived here for 14-plus years, great part of West Philly. University Swim Club is nearby, Penn-Alexander school, many places to eat/drink. You won't find a more ethnically-diverse area anywhere else in the city. Great public transportation, close to Center City, UPenn.
