Is South Beach in San Francisco a good place to live for families with kids?

South Beach in San Francisco seems like it would be a good place for execs and couples than families. It is largely made up of newer aparmtments that weren't here ten years ago. I don't even know if they have schools here yet. Mos families with kids would find the rents pretty unaffordable too.
