"Great neighborhood ...... for those who can afford it"

The neighborhood remains generally quiet and residential, with the majority of its activity clustered around Fillmore Street. For the most part, the activity of choice is shopping, with an emphasis on costly women's clothing and high-stakes luxury items. The strip is also peppered with nice gift boutiques, bath-and-body shops and consignment stores. But if you don't feel like spending money, it can be fun to settle in at a sidewalk café and watch everyone else parade by. The area draws a variety of American and international tourists and is always well populated by impossibly groomed and outfitted locals who seem capable of strolling through a windstorm without having a hair get out of place.

"The Hipsters Paradise"

Lots of underground clubs in this area. Mostly secluded from large crowds. Large techno parties exists behind big metal doors as you walk through this almost deserted looking part of town. Lots of loft apartments set up for the hipster crowd. If your not into loud techno music blaring at 3 in the morning then this area is not for you. Trendy cafes, and shopping boutiques are distributed speratically throughout this area of town

"Busy Busy Sutter Street"

Sutter street is filled with fine art galleries, some focusing on selling works by big names like Picasso and Chagall, and others devoted to exhibiting works by contemporary artists. San Francisco's only Frank Lloyd Wright building, built in 1949 and currently housing the Xanadu Gallery, is located at 140 Maiden Lane, and features the same circular interior as the famed Guggenheim Museum in New York. This is also San Francisco's main theater district, with some historic, beautiful buildings housing the performances. Shows range from traveling Broadway and off-Broadway shows on limited runs to smaller local productions.

"Lots of tourists in this area"

The Castro is bustling all day long, but at night it really comes alive, as the bars from the Mint to the Midnight Sun fill up and the Castro Theatre's neon marquee lights up the main drag. Though the Castro's nightlife doesn't have as much to offer women as many dykes would like, it remains a fairly safe neighborhood after hours, and there are plenty of places where women, queer or not, can feel at home.

"Family oriented area in a busy city"

A quaint and urban village. The main shopping strip of Cortland Avenue is populated by small markets, cafés, fruit stands and barber shops, and the residential streets are a cluster of diminutive bungalows and community gardens. However, Bernal Heights bears the influence of city sophistication, with trendy boutiques and innovative restaurants scattered among its homely storefronts. The neighborhood is a mix of artists and progressives, popular with the lesbian community and attractive to young families looking for a first home and quiet streets. It is also a mecca for dog owners, thanks to a high concentration of single-family houses with yards and the nearby haven of Bernal Park, a canine free-for-all of off-leash frolicking.

"Great shopping, food, atmosphere"

This area is known for it’s Italian heritage. Everywhere you look you will find and the great restaurants jazz clubs, galleries and cafés. Good spot for nightlife! I love Washington Square and the Church of Saints Peter and Paul. The church is known as the "fisherman's church" because many of its parishioners once made their living from the sea. Can't wait to take another walk up to Coit Tower for some fabulous view of San Francisco from telegraph hill.

"Just Outside San Francisco"

Located less than a mile away from California's Oakland International Airport and two miles from the BART Transit System. Just minutes away from Oakland Coliseum, 10 mins away from Jack London Square, 20 mins from downtown. Lots of hotels in this area. also near an airport so a lot of airplane noise throughout the day and evening.

Great street located in the heart of San Francisco, it's walking distance to famous Neighborhoods like Chinatown, Nob Hill, the famous Cable Cars, shopping and dinning. Also, a couple blocks from here you can find the BART transit line - Powell Street Station which is a great transportation alternative to and from the San Francisco or Oakland Airports.
