"Lots to do on this street!"
Sutter Street is another street just like Pine and Bush Street, a one-way street with a good amount of traffic running through it every day. Sutter Street is also another one of those streets that most people (including me) drive through to get to Geary Boulevard, the Richmond District, or the Sunset District. The street is only busy on the Downtown side of Van Ness Street. On the either side, the number of cars begins to die and it slowly begins to quiet down. There are several bars and hotels on Sutter Street as well, same with restaurants, cafes, and stores. Sutter Street seems like a good quiet place to live on, only on the quiet side of it though.

Sutter St
"Trendy Art District"
There is more to do than just shop!! I stumbled upon one of the most interesting museums I have yet encountered while walking down Sutter Street. The Museum of Craft and Design showcases a fantastic collection of cutting edge and contemporary modern design elements in the form of many art mediums. Everything from homemade craft jewelry to ornate modern sculptures captivate the imagination of the art-appreciative. Definitely stop in and check it out, admission is cheap!

"Shopping, Shopping, and dare I say more Shopping"
If you love shopping this is a great street to visit. The street is lined with shops. What I specifically liked about this street was the hint of Asian influence and culture. There was one store that I remember that was really charming and had a lot of authentic interesting pieces from Asia. The street is right next to Union Street, so I advice those coming to wear comfortable shoes and to bring the credit card because there are so many shops on this street and neighboring.

"Busy Busy Sutter Street"
Sutter street is filled with fine art galleries, some focusing on selling works by big names like Picasso and Chagall, and others devoted to exhibiting works by contemporary artists. San Francisco's only Frank Lloyd Wright building, built in 1949 and currently housing the Xanadu Gallery, is located at 140 Maiden Lane, and features the same circular interior as the famed Guggenheim Museum in New York. This is also San Francisco's main theater district, with some historic, beautiful buildings housing the performances. Shows range from traveling Broadway and off-Broadway shows on limited runs to smaller local productions.

"Sutter between Hyde and Stockton -- you could die of starvation!"
This street is noisy and has a few tall, narrow "boutique" hotels on it. Don't be lured by the hotels on this street that brag about being "walking distance" to Union Square shops and restaurants. Well, they are walking distance, but it's a grimy, dirty walk and you could die of thirst or starvation with only a couple of shops on the way that could serve you a drink - no "known" names and their hours are short. The neighborhood is busy with trucks loading/unloading at all hours of the day/night, causing double parking traffic jams, plus sirens that echo off the tall buildings on this narrow street.

Sutter St
"A pretty busy street that runs through nice places."
Sutter St. is a very busy street that runs from downtown through the heart of Japantown till Presidio St. In Japan town, it is a busy street near many restaurants and stores. It has very good japanese restaurants like Mifune. There is also the Kabuki theater nearby that is pretty popular. Very close to Union Square and many popular stores in downtown. It has the very popular street wear stores of HUF. Has access to BART, Muni Trains, and Muni buses. A great place to hang out with your friends, or to bring someone out to eat lunch or dinner. Overall a pretty good street to have a day at.

"Quiet residential neighborhood"
Sutter Street between Fillmore Street and Van Ness Avenue is a very calm, mostly residential neighborhood with many senior homes. There is very little traffic except for Van Ness Ave., Gough Street (which leads to the highway) and Fillmore Street. Overall it is pretty quite for those who do not like loud noises in the morning. It is also located a twenty minute walk form downtown, far enough to escape the traffic and rush but close enough for a nice walk. The 2 Clement, 3 Jackson, and 4 Sutter bus lines all run on this street, providing easy transportation from downtown San Francisco to the other end of the city. It is also very safe, although at night there are occasional drunks walking by since it is at the border of Pacific Heights (a very well-off neighborhood) and the Western Addition (a not-very clean neighborhood).

"You Don't Have to Die to go to Chocolate Heaven"
On a shortstrech of Sutter St. between Stockton St. and Kearney St. you'll find what I like to call San Francisco's Chocolate Heaven. Heading east on Sutter St. you'll find Richart, a chocolate store that treats chocolate almost as a art medium. Buy on of the sample boxes to find out what Richart is all about. Walk a little further and you'll find Teuscher Chocolates of Switzerland. In my opinion their champagne truffles are to die for. If that's not enough walk a little further you'll find Cafe' Claude a classic French Bistro where you'll finish you meal with what else a wonderful Chocolate Mousse.
