"the main street running through Golden Gate Park"

JFK Drive is the main street running through Golden Gate Park. At one end is Stanyan Street and the other end is the Ocean. I lived close to the Conservatory of flowers near Arguello/Fulton and and usually rode my bike all the way to the ocean on JFK drive through the park. On the way you passed the De Yong museum went under Park Presidio (19th ave) which is the most heavily trafficked road cutting through the park. Closer to the ocean just off JFK drive is the Golden Gate golf course, the best 9 hole municipal golf course for beginners and intermediates alike. Of course the Dutch windmill is the other landmark at the Ocean end of JFK drive. I love going to JFK drive especially on the weekends when the road is closed to cars.

"Not much here, except connectivity to silicon valley"

Townsend street is pretty much a dead street. If it were not for the AT&T Ballpark and the Caltrain station this street wouldnt even have the signs of life that we see today. It has a nice Borders bookstore at the intersection of 3rd and a reasonably large Safeway at the intersection of 4th street. Safeway is the place to park in this area if you need a quick stop, its free parking with validation.
The Caltrain station has a "Subway" which i used almost every day the entire year I commuted by train to Mountain View, Subway sandwiches are the best.

"new china town gives a completely different look to this part of SF"

Clement street between Arguello and park presidio has a completely different feel to it compared to the rest of san francisco. For a certain stretch it almost seems like you are in Asia. Home to an awesome restaurant, Burma Superstar and a even better performance venue, the Rockit room, Celment street has everything you need from Groceries to Restaurants to entertainment venues

"A very lively street, gives you the san francisco flower power spirit"

The haight is one interesting street with multiple bars, restaurants and shops. From time to time you will see the homeless wandering around, but this is just a part of the overall vibe that this street has to offer. Prominent business on the street include Amoeba records. My favorite hangout place though is Cha-Cha-Cha

"a really nice European flavor in the middle of San Francisco"

This street easily has to be my favorite dining spot in San Francisco. It has a a varied choice in dining across different European cuisines. Also different kinds of restaurants with different ambiance. Almost all of the restaurants have outdoor seating. Overall a nice place for an evening out with friends or also for that romantic dinner with your date. Vegetarians beware, not much of a choice here for you. I went there once with a vegetarian friend and she had to settle for the only single vegetarian dish at the Italian restaurant there.

"will always be the place I call home in the bay area"

I spent a little under two years living at Arguello Blvd as a tentant of a house owner there while I went to school at USF which is just up the hill from Arguello (the default 1st avenue).
Arguello is the beginning of the Richmond district where at one end of the street is Golden Gate park and at the other end is the presidio, two of SF's green landmarks. Inbetween are several other landmarks like the St.Johns church, the Indian consulate, Ross Field ( a public playground with a pool, basketball courts and baseball field), Arguello Supermarket (overpriced local grocery store) and Velo Rouge, a chic cafe. I lived closer to the Golden gate park and the conservatory of flowers was just a minute away. Many times I took the 33 MUNI towards the presidio for a walk in the area, the presidio golf course is also at the end of Arguello with a impressive driving range and an even better course.
