"The Old and the New"
Nothing in East Palo Alto (aside, perhaps, from Ravenswood) is that great. But some of the neighborhoods have become pretty decent in the past ten years, and Weeks Street is a clear example of the old, run-down EPA blending with the new developments intended to gentrify the area. West of University Avenue, there is a lovely housing development filled with brand-new cars and Silicon Valley professionals. But all you need to do is cross the street to encounter some of the roughest, most run-down houses to be found anywhere in the Bay Area.
The proximity to University Avenue is both a blessing and a curse - no street close to University will ever be THAT bad, because it is visible by so many and so highly trafficked. On the flip side, traffic on University can be blocked around rush hour (morning or night), making it one of the most challenging streets to drive on anywhere in Silicon Valley. With such proximity, the commute from Weeks to the 101 may very well be just as long as the rest of the commute, regardless of where you are traveling.
This could potentially be a good spot to live, if you want an investment property or a nice development that is relatively cheap. Just be aware of the surroundings if you decide to buy here, and you will be fine.
