"Up and Coming Industrial Wonderland"
Although it looks rather post-apocalyptic, when you look more closely (with an open mind) one can observe East Milwaukee Street's delicate balance of historical architecture and nature taking back the landscape of an industrial urban frontier where an emerging loft scene forms a diverse community of unique people. (the area I'm referring to is Milwaukee Jumction as a whole which also includes East Milwaukee across i75) Establishments such as Tangent Gallery/ Hastings Street Ballroom and the Russel Industrial center serve as a main anchors to the Milwaukee Junction's arts community. Despite the fact that it is noisy, proximity to the freeways provide an easy way to get around the metro area, and it's proximity to Midtown (WSU), New Center, Hamtramck, and Eastern Market offers excellent attractions such as restaurants, bars, and shopping all within a five minute commute. The area still needs alot of work, but has the potential to one day In the relatively near future to be a thriving neighborhood as surrounding areas continue improving. Most parking lots are gated and majority of the area's sparse population consist of loft dwellers. This area is not for everyone as it does look scary to most conventional people (example: my parents don't visit too often) But if you are an open minded person who wants alot of bang (square footage) for your buck and interested in living on the unique urban fringe in an up and coming industrial wonderland, then look no further.

"A bit of the seedy side of Detroit"
This part of the city is dirty and noisy. It is located right near railroad tracks, and very close to the interstate. It is loud and seedy looking. There are some recently renovated lofts in the area, but they didn't add to the value of this part of town--it is a bit scary here.
