Madison St
"lovely and well kept street!"
I love Madison Street! It's one of the few cleanest streets in Detroit! You'll find a lot to do on this street. You can find Cheli's Chili on one end of the street, and on the other you'll go by Ford Field (though I necessarily can't recommend going to see the Lions play). Comerica Park is in extremely close proximity, and there's some decent restaurants scattered up and down Madison Street. The Detroit Opera House is close to Madison Street too. It's worth a look if you're a visitor. I don't know anything about living opportunities though.

Madison St
"A really LOVELY street! Check it out!"
This is a beautiful area. Anytime someone says that Detroit is an ugly city, tell them about Madison Street. It's actually more of a boulevard than a street because there are nice big tree-lined medians running down it, really pretty. There's an absolutely beautiful park right at the end of it, which is near Cheli's Chili Bar (a great restaurant which you should definitely try if you're in the area.) The general area, near Woodward and Park Avenue, is a must-visit for a tourist staying in Detroit. Check it out, you won't be disappointed!
