North Outer Lake Shore Dr
"Breathtaking city views"
There is nothing in the world like driving down Lakeshore Drive at night. There is something to be said about the quiet beauty of the lake on one side, and the city lights on the left. As you approach the city via Lakeshore Drive from 294, it looks like you are going to drive right into the buildings. Suddenly, the road curves to the right and you are cruising along with the lake to your right and the city to your left. Breathtaking!

"There ain't no road just like it"
From Aliotta-Haynes-Jeremiah to Ferris Bueller's Day off, Lake Shore Drive has been a staple of Chicago pop-culture. It's picturesque with the skyline ahead of you, behind you, and to the west, and the vast flat Lake Michigan to the east. It's also the quickest way to go north to south in the city. With few lights, you won't be caught in the gridlock of the city, although it does back up during rush hour. Near downtown you'll see the beaches and marinas and the stark black alien-looking Lake Point Tower, once home to Sammy Sosa. As the road rounds the southern edge of the city you can pick up other highways such as the Dan Ryan Epressway or the Chicago Skyway which soars over the south side.

"What An Incredible View"
Lake Shore Drive actually starts out East-West briefly, at the lower end of Lake Michigan, and curves upward along the western border of the lake for the rest of it. It is generally not commercial at all; it goes through areas like Lincoln Park, which of course has a zoo and is a neighborhood where young, hip and full of money types live and spend their money, but really Lake Shore Drive is a destination all its own. For the most part the apartment buildings, whether rented or owned, are more expensive when they are below, say Diversey (2800 N) and in fact those are some of the most beautiful mansions in the city. But even those that are much further north have the advantage of being on or very near the lake. A sprawling and beautiful thoroughfare.

"full of life"
A beautiful drive or a walk which ever you prefer. also the location for the annual air and water show. Over the years, the show has become a summer tradition featuring aviation's top military and civilian pilots.
