"A Little Bit of Everything the Burbs has to Offer"
Oak Hill Road is a relatively short road but in its few streets it has a lot to offer. North of the freeway it is an ascending residial street with nice California style suburban houses. The roads a bit narrow and very woodsy.
South of the 24, you are right in the heart of Lafayette at probably the prettiest point on Mt. Diablo Blvd. Just south to the freeway you can find a great little breakfast place, Millies (get there early on Sunday if you want to get a table). The Blockbuster across the street is almost dead. There is a couple of supermarkets and lots of little stores all over the place around here. Mt. Diablo is always busy. Right by the corner you find a great Starbucks and a bit of honky tonk kind of a bar. (Next to it on Mt. Diablo you'll find a solid Chinese Place and Thai Place.
In the shopping area south of Mt. Diablo there is a good place to buy french bread and other gourmet type Italian amenities. There is also a good, busy breakfast place named Chow's and good family pizza place run by friendly Brazilians (Mangia's). You can also find a copy place here.
Overall, you really can get everything you need from a small town. And since the Bart station is right there, you don't even need a car.
