"Most convenient of the pretty Riverdale Streets"
Although Oxford Avenue is a very pretty little Central Riverdale street, there are WAY more stately ones with majestic multi-million dollar mansions in Riverdale. However, I like Oxford the best because not only is it clean, safe & pretty, it's the most walk-friendly of the prettiest & quietest residential streets of Riverdale. Although parking is relatively easy, you don't need to depend on a vehicle to live on Oxford since it's the closest Riverdale street to the subway, supermarket, banks, coffee shops & restaurants, parks, dog walk, schools, gym, etc. At the base of the street is a gorgeous hilly park called Ewen Park that I like to take my dog to and read. I do live on Oxford Avenue but it was because of a strategic choice. I wanted to live in a safe and quiet area but I didn't want to lose the walkable city conveniences I had when I lived in Manhattan. I been living at Oxford seven years now, and it was the best decision I've ever made.
Pros
- Most Convenient of the Pretty Riverdale Streets
- Walking Distance to All Amenities yet Still Residential
- Friendliest Young Professional Part of Riverdale
- Beautiful Tree Lined Street
- Convenience to Transportation & Shopping
- Urban Burb (suburban street next to urban amenities)
Cons
- Although she holds its own, certainly not the most majestic of the gorgeous Riverdale Streets
- Cant think of one. It's perfect Riverdale street

"Convenient Urban Burb Street"
Wish I could live on this Riverdale street. Beautiful single family homes and buildings in the tree lined street. But what I like most its walking distance to subway, Metro North, highway, schools, library, parks, supermarket & all shopping on 235th,231st, Johnson Ave & Riverdale Ave.! Wish more Riverdale streets looked like this and were as convenient. If I ever sell my place and move again, this is where I will buy.

Oxford Ave
"Nice area and very busy"
Oxford Avenue is one busy street that has a little bit of everything available. It does not seem like a great street to live simply because it would be hard for anyone with a family to deal with but it is perfect for a single person who is in and out, a quick paced person would be ideal for this street.

"Nice quiet place to live----doesn't feel like the city....but you still have all of the benefits of the city"
Oxford Ave. is a short and quiet street in the Riverdale neighborhood of the Bronx.
I lived nearby for 2 years and often walked down Oxford Ave. en route to run errands, go to dinner, etc.
It is fully residential, with many trees. Graffiti is a problem from local teenagers--and being in Riverdale, car theft occurs from time to time. But overall it is safe and extremely family oriented.
Oxford Ave. is close to 235th Street and Riverdale Ave. which contain grocery stores, banks, cleaners\tailors\shoe repairmen, hardware stores, etc. Also, Oxford Ave. is within walking distance to the NYC subway (1 train) and Metro North which goes directly to grand central. It is the ideal location for someone who wants to live in the city\have all of the city amenities but feel like you are living in a suburb with trees!
