Is South Beach in San Francisco walkable? Can I walk to everything or do I need a car?

You are definitely close enough to walk to everything from South Beach in San Francisco, yet it is not a very attractive area and there are a fair number of homeless people around, so I would generally prefer to actually drive to places if given the choice. So I would say that practically speaking it is not very walkable and that you probably need a car to live here.
