North 12th St
"Decent street with good shopping."
North 12th Street is a fairly quiet road, though it does have sections that are better to be avoided, especially at night. Overall this street offers enough shopping, dining and entertainment both on North 12th Street and other nearby roads. There seems to be better police envolvement the futher north you go than is seen in other neighborhoods making it a fairly safe place to live.

Shasta Ave
"Wonderful peaceful street."
Shasta Avenue would definitely a place I would be happy to call home. Large trees offer ample shade for the big homes along this street. Many homes have their own refreshing in-ground pools in their private back yards, perfect for those hot California summers! Friendly people, convenient nearby shopping, and safe streets makes this neighborhood a perfect place to live.

Hanchett Ave
"Beautiful homes on quiet street."
Hanchett Avenue is one of those street you want to slowly cruise down to take in all its relaxing feel. The residents here enjoy large beautiful homes on spacious yards. People are quick to wave in this part of town, though the large majority appear to be younger than one would expect to see in such nice homes.

North 2nd St
"Very busy downtown street."
This street has so much to do, it will keep you busy for a very, very long time. North 2nd Street is located right downtown with all of the sights and sounds one might expect to experience in such a large, busy area. The light rail offers easy transportation for those who prefer it, making it easy to get in and out whenever you please.
East St John St
"Bad street with good areas."
Overall East St John Street is very unsavory, loud, crude, dangerous... ghetto feeling, but the end towards 1st Street is greatly improved. That end runs beside a very nice park and is close to fine dining, shopping and entertainment of the safer part of the downtown area. If you are having to travel the length of this street, be sure you have your windows up and doors locked.
East Julian St
"Loud street with dangerous elements."
East Julian Street is a very loud street with plenty rough looking areas. Houses along stretches of this street even have bars on their windows, giving the plain sign that this is a very dangerous area to be in, much less consider living there. While I was on this street I notice the lack of police cars, I didn't even see one make a cruise through this area where they are so obviously needed.
Rankin Ave
"Great street with lots to do."
Rankin Avenue certainly has plenty to boast about. This quiet residential street offers nice homes and friendly people, but it is also conveniently located to all the pleasures of North San Pedro. There you will find everything from shopping, dinning, nightlife entertainment and even at times, movies to enjoy. I loved the time I was able to spend here, and I look forward to going back!

"A struggling little (salt) mining town."
Grand Saline is a proud little East Texas town situated on Hwy 80 about 90 miles east of Dallas. In 2006, the population of this small town was estimated to be about 3,262... though most locals doubt the count is really that high. The largest employeer in the area is the Morton Salt Mine located just outside of town on FM 110. There is a new high school building and all of the grades are taught very adaquately. But the shopping here leaves a lot to be desired with only one true grocery store in town and the closest Walmarts being a good 20 minutes away in both Mineola and Canton. For really good shopping, Canton's First Monday Trade Days, Tyler and Dallas offer the best options. The people here are friendly enough if you corner them, otherwise fairly standoffish until they get to know you. The long-time residents like things to stay the same and wants nothing to do with changes that would bring more people to their little town. Unfortunately, Morton's rarely hires anymore, preferring instead to replace men with machines, hhiring only when absolutely necessary. The lack of jobs in and around the Grand Saline area causes a large number of the younger generation to leave their hometown for better prospects elsewhere. A drive through town will easily reveal that this town is really struggling to keep alive. There are a few new businesses scattered along Highway 80, but what it really needs is a big employeer to come to town... and soon!
For those who might be considering moving to Grand Saline, it is a very quiet place to live but many around this area believes it awaits a very dangerous fate. The Grand Saline Salt Mine has been in operation for the majority of the 1900's, tunnels have been dug and/or washed for miles all around... even Morton miners admit they have no way of mapping them! Many fear they will start seeing more sinkholes in and around the town. One such sinkhole fell right inside town in 1976. I am one of the many who felt it was too risky to raise my family on top of such a possible and unpredictable nightmare.

Barlow Ave
"Bad street with high crime."
One trip to Barlow Avenue is all it takes to see the bad problems that face the residents here on a daily basis. The local police are constantly kept busy with recently reported robberies and suspicious activities in this neighborhood. Ocala Park would be within easy walking distance if it were still safe to walk in this part of town, but that is something I would not recommend even trying.
Tallahassee Dr
"A street with lots of troubles."
Arden Way might've once been a nice street but isn't one now. There are problems everywhere you look along this road from gang related activities to vacant houses due to recent foreclosures. Crime has been on a steady increase here and long-time residents are now even afraid to open their doors after dark.
Curtis St
"Great street close to it all!"
Curtis Street truely does have it all, it is only blocks away from some of the best shopping, such as the Southglenn Mall (which is currently being renovated), great entertainment, and every type of food joint you could ever want! Residents here only have to slip into their shoes and go for a relaxing stroll to be in the heart of Denver and all of its glory.

Only a few blocks from downtown, residents here are free to enjoy all it has to offer.

East Cherry Creek Dr North
"Wonderful outdoor shopping area."
Cherry Creek North Drive is lined with shops of every type, a must for anyone to visit at least once while passing through. From bagels and coffee to sushi and spirits, this area is loaded with things to enjoy. Residential areas are an easy walk from this popular pedestrian area. Visitors here can choise to relax on any of the many outdoor patios or wile away their time shopping at upscale shops such as Neiman Marcus, Macy's and Saks Fifth Avenue, all of which are only a matter of steps away.

West Lakeshore Dr
"Great views of the lake."
West Lakeshore Drive is exactly that, a drive along the western side of the lake's shoreline. This relatively short road will take you southwardly from West 20th Avenue around the western side of Cooper Lake to West 17th Avenue. The entire length of West Shoreline Drive is located within the the park itself, which makes this street very relaxing and quiet.

West Byron Pl
"Nice road with great lake views."
West Byron Place is home to both residential and businesses alike. Perhaps the most enjoyable part of this street is the fact that it takes you along the North side of Sloans Lake and even through part of Sloans Lake Park, making it a much used access point to all the lake has to offer.

South Shoshone St
"Great place to raise a family."
Charming Ranch style houses are a predominant feature up and down the length of South Shoshone Street. This friendly neighborhood encourages its residence to take part in their community organization which strives to keep their neighbors up-to-date on important issues and organizes at least two annual events to help people really appreciate this wonderful neighborhood.

Tejon St
"Quiet neighborhood with great spirit."
North Tejon Street stretches through many nice streets that all seem to have one thing in common - a great communitiy spirit! Mostly brick homes line this street, and each one sports a large airy porch that the residents here seem to make full use of in the evenings. It is hard to drive through any of the streets in this neighborhood and not find neighbors walking and talking or just sitting and visiting with one another.

South Gilpin St
"Perfect place to call home!"
Out of all the streets around the area that I have visited, South Gilmin Street, and its nearby streets, stand out as one of the nicest. Washington Park, or Wash Park, is within an easy walk and offers everything a park should - plus more. S. Gilmin Street is lined with charming old homes (many two-stories) and large shady trees, giving a warm feel to an already wonderful neighborhood.

South Jackson St
"A very old neighborhood, with hip residents."
South Jackson Street, like so many of its neighboring streets, has a quiet, yet charming air about it. Many of the homes along this street look to be one hundred years old or more, but they also carry the touch up the modern times we live in. Friendliness, cleanliness and convenience all make this a neighborhood I will keep coming back to for future visits!

Glencoe St
"Very nice street in quiet neighborhood."
The residents of Glencoe Street are lucky enough to not only live in a beautiful neighborhood, but also a wonderfully quiet one. Major highways nearby allows for easy access to shopping, dining, and much, much more. Large older trees here supply plenty of shade for those who like the outdoors on nice days, while top rate reception of all technology makes for highly enjoyable activities indoor, as well. The street stretches through other nearby matching neighborhoods with impressive homes and friendly people.

North Garrett Ave
"A police nightmare!"
North Garrett Street really is a police officer's nightmare. Gang activity goes unchecked in this neighborhood, along with drug use and prostitution on many street corners and back alleyways. Residents of this street are always having to look over their shoulders and rightfully adds more locks to their doors to try to keep the dangers outside their homes.
Ajc_214
Dont be such a drama queen. N garrett Ave hasn't had hookers working the corners for 8 or more years now. The biggest problem Is all the Police harassment.

San Jacinto St
"Bad street, not to be trusted."
Like other streets nearby San Jacinto Street has plenty of dangerous aspects. Large groups of rough looking young men making threatening gestures to traffic is all together too common. Drug deals and prostitution can be witnesses at all times of day here. And the police force seems either unable or unwilling to bring such activity under control.
North Harwood St
"Horrible, horrible street!"
North Harwood Street, a dangerous street among many other dangerous streets around the Dallas area. Police cars can always be seen on the street afer being called for domestic violence or drug related arrests. 34 Gang and gang-like groups are constantly a treat of bodily harm on and near North Harwood Street. Think twice before spending time on this street!
Live Oak St
"Loud and dangerous street."
Live Oak Street itself is pretty loud and dangerous. Poorly lit, this street is not really safe for women or children, if anyone. Drugs and loud questionable activities make this a very poor choice when looking for a new place to call home. This street offers cheaper housing but is not worth it after the sun goes down.
Kings Hwy
"Older neighborhood with nice clean streets."
Kings Highway is located in North Oak Cliff, which is built on gentle, rolling hills. Beautiful older homes line the streets, adding character and class to the neighborhood. And because it's located outside the center of Dallas, the residents here have real privacy without the ever present intrusion of inner city life.

North Winnetka Ave
"Nice and Historic!"
North Winnetka Avenue has more than its share of old homes. History buffs will truely love taking a relaxing drive along this street! Located far enough away from the hussle and bussle on the downtown area but still close enough for easy shopping, entertainment, and culture of Dallas. North Winnetka Avenue seems quiet and peaceful with its classic, beautiful homes.

Merrimac Ave
"Quiet street, great for retirees."
Merrimac Avenue is another great street among many in this part of Dallas. Like its neighboring streets, Merrimac has lots of older trees offering ample shade for the residents. Large, classy brick homes on sprawling grassy lawns are plentiful and very few children along this street makes it extremely quiet both day and night.

"Wonderful old neighborhood!"
Older homes dominate this street, all with their own manicured lawns, and shaded yards and sidewalks. The residents here enjoy a bit of a reprieve from their hectic lives when they come home to this peaceful setting, Yet they are still close enough to all the shopping and entertainment they could ever want.

Goodson St
"Bad street in a bad neighborhood."
Goodson Street is in the middle of a very bad neighborhood, with open drug use and a high crime rate. Local police have increased their presence in the area, but as of yet there has been little to no improvement. Hosilities run high here and the threat of violence is constantly present. There are children in this neighborhood, but the effects of their surroundings are visiable upon most of them. Many youth here end up dropping out of school and getting in trouble with the law.
Phillips St
"One of many unsafe streets."
Like many others, Phillips Street is located in a very rough neighborhood. Open drug use and high crime rate on neighboring streets make this street unsafe, too. Phillips Street is very short, only spanning a couple blocks, but the residents here are right to add a few more locks to their doors. This is a bad area to consider raising children in, the risk heavily outweigh the benefit of cheaper housing.
Commerce St
"Historic street in downtown."
West Commerce Street is a history lovers dream. The Beckham Hotel is a fine example of the proud history of Mineola. Dating back more than one hundred years, the Beckham Hotel is one of many historical buildings still standing in the downtown area. Also along this street is located a gazebo, memorial flags, and even a train caboose. West Commerce Street is one of many streets who takes part of the annual Halloween Block Party.
Wigley St
"Nice street close to shopping areas."
Wigley Street is a very nice street with nice homes and friendly people. Located just two blocks from North Pacific Street, the residents are only minutes away from all the shopping and entertainment Mineola has to offer, Many of the school age childern along this street rides the local school bus, which stops for pick up and drop-off in front of each child's home.

North Newsom St
"Great busy street, close to everything."
North Newsom Street is a mostly residential street only a block away from one of the main roads in Mineola. Drivers will often choose to drive the length of this smaller street than deal with the heaver traffic of North Pacific Street, thus making North Newsom busier than many others on this side of town. The residents here get to enjoy the calming influence of housing one of Mineola's biggest churches and the Mineola Civic Center and playground.
Turtle Creek Dr
"Great location, close to doctors and hospitals."
Turtle Creek Drive is lined with medical offices, from pediatricians to dentistry. Centrally located near both hospitals that Tyler has to offer, Turtle Creek Drive is understandably busy during normal business hours, after which it becomes a calm slow street. The neighboring streets to its west are all quiet residential, with a public school only a few blocks away.
Holland Rd
"Easily the quietest road around town."
Holland Road is easily one of the quietest road around Mineola. Stretching past deep pastures and beautiful country views, Holland Road comes to an abrupt end at the only houses along this road. This would be an ideal place to raise a family, or just relax. I would definitely recommend this street to anyone.

Mineola
"Quiet, nearly forgotten street."
Boundary Street begins on the south-western side of Mineola and turns into a small county road just outside of town. Even though many neighboring streets suffer from drugs and crime, Boundary Street has a more peaceful feel to it, perhaps because there are very few homes located along this road. Residents here truely get the pleasures of country living, all within minutes to downtown.

Peques St
"Nice road close to the middle of town."
West McDonald Street is mostly residential with the exception of a large church on the first block. Everyone along this street is very friendly and willing to greet anyone with a smile. Not too far from the schools and even closer to the downtown area, West McDonald Street would be great for anyone wanting to be close to it all.

Wren St
"Quiet yet questionable street on the edge of town."
Wren Street is located on the southwestern edge of Mineola. This street is fairly quiet although there has been reports of drug activity in the immediate neighborhood. Just recently the local police arrested a man for selling drugs from a relatives house on Wren Street. The street is lined with nice looking homes with a few overlooking pastures across the road. This is an old neighborhood, with residents who are very proud of their historial roots in the community.

South Johnson St
"A great street on one end, bad on the other end."
South Johnson Street runs south from Hwy 80 to Hwy 69S, though it is no longer connected. The first block of this street is located north of the train tracks and has many historic buildings still in use. What use to be the crossing is now a memorial and gazebo on the north side and a recreational area on the south side of the train tracks, complete with a pavillion, horseshoes, basketball court and picnic areas. There is also an Amtrac Station right beside the pavillion, a great addition to Mineola but it does add to the noise and traffic delays. There are many residential home along South Johnson Street and eateries, a meat market, hardware store and much more only blocks away. During the summer months, one of the ladies who lives on South Johnson Street offers a small produce stand, selling produce she and her husband grows right in the neighborhood! The futher south you go on this street, the rougher the neighborhood gets. The southern 2 blocks seem to suffer from the same drug problem that is seen on neighboring streets.
