"Pleasant and Active"

3rd Avenue North is in the perfect place to serve the needs of both parents and kids. Kids can use the nearby ball fields and parks to run, play baseball, play frisbee, and participate in other activities. Parents have easy access to the cultural opportunities of downtown Seattle. It’s an unbeatable combination.

"Great, Quiet Location"

2nd Avenue North is a quiet street in a good location. The south part of the street runs along a ball fields that hosts occasional Little League games, so it’s a very good street for parents with young, baseball-oriented children. In addition, all the neighbors know each other and form a very tight community.

"Quiet Street With Large Yards"

McGraw Place is a nice, quiet street that is perfect for retirees. The yards on McGraw Place are slightly bigger than those in other parts of Queen Anne, so gardeners can take full advantage of their hobby. In addition, it is close to David Rodgers Park, an excellent place for an afternoon walk.

"A Street With A Strong Community"

Smith Street is, above all, a very friendly street. You can see the neighbors walking the sidewalks constantly, with dogs or strollers in hand. In addition, the residents use their yards quite a bit, whether playing catch with their kids or gardening. It’s a very close, warm community where everybody knows each other.

"Great Street for Athletic Kids"

Halladay Street is a perfect location for couples with young, athletic kids. It is only a couple blocks from David Rodgers park, which has fields for frisbee and small trails fro running. In addition, the neighborhood is very safe so kids can bike for miles. Plus, it is not very far from center city Seattle, with its wealth of cultural opportunities.

"Unique, Mixed Street"

Raye Street is somewhat unique for the Queen Anne area. The residents are a mix of couples without children and small families, so there is the joy of children and also the youthfulness of young professionals. Everybody is very friendly; my friend moved a couple blocks away and mentioned that some of the first friends he made lived on Raye Street.

"Family-Friendly, Quiet Street"

Newell Street is a great, family-friendly street in the Queen Anne section of Seattle. There are many families with small children on this street, and the parents and kids are always out playing on the sidewalk. The families are all very kind, so its a great place for married couples with children to meet like-minded people.

"Modern Living in and Old-Fashioned Neighborhood"

Armour Street is notable for its many modern-style houses, which the rest of Queen Anne Hill is lacking. The modern style gives a young, trendy feeling to the street, even though it is far from the cultural center of Seattle. It’s a perfect street for young families who want to settle down but still feel youthful.

"Good Garden Street"

Fulton Street is a very lush road. Most of the yards are filled with trees, shrubs, and flowers, and one of the homes is surrounded by hedge rows. Some of the residents are dedicated to preserving bird habitat, so you can always hear chirping. It’s a street that feels like a park.

"Great Green Street"

Barrett Street is a great, small town-type street in Seattle. The houses are mostly wood houses with small gardens outside, perfect for one-child families. Many of the neighbors plant their gardens with native Washington trees and shrubs (like Red Cedar), making the street very picturesque and a good example of urban gardening.

"Great Neighborhood For Small Families"

Queen Anne is one of the best places to raise kids in Seattle. It’s a quiet residential neighborhood situated on a hill overlooking the city with many small streets twisting across its slopes. The houses are small, single-family houses in a Cape Cod-type style with ample backyards and front yards. I have often visited my friend (who live with his wife and son on the hill), and have noticed the kindness the neighbors show him and he shows the neighbors. Plus, it is close enough to downtown Seattle to take advantage of the cultural and entertainment opportunities of the city. Queen Anne is a highly recommended neighborhood.

"Very Green Street"

St. Paul Avenue is one of the greenest streets in this neighborhood. It is lined with flower boxes, trees, and hedges, making seem like a garden. It is also located close to Pelham Bay park, and I’ve seen more than one family walk down the street after being caked in mud from the Pelham Wetlands. There is not as much community interaction as in other areas, but the greenery and location make up for it.

"Good Location, Decent Street"

Roebling Avenue is nondescript in appearance but has a good location. Many of the local residents go to Pelham Bay Park, a collection of meadows and wetlands, to relax and enjoy nature. In addition, there are a couple local hospitals. The street is very residential and not close to shopping, but is in a decent neighborhood.

"Great Community Street"

Gillespie Avenue is one of the most communal areas of this neighborhood. I’ve walked through here a couple times and have always seen the locals out talking or trading household supplies and tools. The street is not particularly visually striking, but it is very socially attractive. I’ve only seen married couples here, but I’m sure that singles would enjoy the place, too.

"Quiet, But Interesting Street"

Daniel Street is an interesting mix of vibes. On the Plymouth Avenue end, it’s identical to most other streets in the neighborhood- small houses with brick sides. But on the Crosby Avenue end, it becomes a tree and hedge-lined street. I’ve often seen neighbors standing out on this side of the street and chatting- it’s a very communal area.

"Great green City Living"

Parkview Avenue is one of the greenest streets in this neighborhood. Pale, shady sycamores line the sidewalks, and make summer walks a pleasure. Many people set up grills in their small front yards and have barbecues in July, so the smell of cooking ribs is never far away in summer. It’s a small sanctuary of green in a neighborhood of asphalt.

"Other Streets Are Better"

Mahan Avenue is like many other streets in this neighborhood in that it is composed of primarily residential homes, with little shopping or entertainment nearby. However, it is noticeably more run-down than nearby Jarvis and Hobart Avenues, and you see fewer people on the streets. There are better places to live nearby.

"Picturesque Street in a Decent Neighborhood"

Jarvis Avenue is like a small slice of Cape Cod in the Bronx. The street is lined with wood shingle-sided or white-painted houses that stand back from the street. This is one of the nicer neighborhoods in the Bruckner Expressway area. Plus, you’re within a five minute drive of a nice park and a couple hospitals.

"Deteriorating, But Still Decent"

Hobart Avenue is a decent residential street in the Bronx. The houses are not terrific, but it is close to some of the shops and stores on Roberts Avenue. Plus, there are always people walking along the street, so it has a nice, neighborhood feel. Over the past few years, the homes have deteriorated slightly, but still look decent.

"Good Residential Street"

Edison Avenue is a quaint residential street in an otherwise mediocre area of the Bronx. Many of the houses along it have nice porches with flower beds out front, and you can see dog-walkers pacing this street constantly. While there aren’t major shopping areas close by, it’s a very nice residential street.

"Some Local Comforts"

St. Theresa Ave is not in the best section of the Bronx, but it offers some nice features. It’s close to two hospitals (Calvary and J. Weiler), so you don’t have to go far if you have a health emergency. Also, the local church (on St. Theresa and Pilgrim) is great; I used to walk down here on Sundays and stop in for their services. Their pastors are terrific and very charismatic.
