"Walter U Lum Place: Fantastic Place for Families"
Walter U Lum Place is located right above Portsmouth Square in Chinatown. This is just a shaded region where people take strolls or is used as a short cut. When Chinese New Year is near, this street is filled with festivities. This street turns into a mini amusement park, minus the rollercoasters. There will be cotton candy, popcorn, funnel cakes, etc sold during that time of the year. This street is right next to Portsmouth Square, which is a very popular place for the locals to hang out. Parents usually bring their children to this park for them to play on the swings or monkey bars. This is also a very popular place for the elderly. Every Saturday, there is a fair in Portsmouth Square, so it is very popular to locals and tourists.

"Come to the Phoenix at Walter U. Lum Place"
Walter U. Lum Place is the street bordering the west side of Portsmouth Square. This street was the first to be named after a Chinese Immigrant. Walter Lum was a sometimes fierce advocate for Chinese Immigrants all his life. This street, named in his honor, is no ordinary street. It is the home of 2 of my favorite things in San Francisco. First the nifty mural of the Phoenix at the south end of the street is one of my favorites. Secondly Chinatown's annual New Year's Celebration is held on this street. For me this celebration is my favorite Chintown festival of the year.
