"The quiet area less traveled"
Paralleling SW 148th St., the main east-west thoroughfare through Burien, SW 146th St. offers access to most of the same shops and restaurants in the area. A very green street, the trees provide shade from the sweltering Seattle sun (when it's not raining), and the homes that line the street are well manicured and kept up. The old Burien library branch used to be located here, which has recently been converted into a community center for the city. The entrance to the 1-block Dottie Harper Park is a relatively quiet area for picnics or other recreation. The majority of the street is residential, though there is a day care center at the east end near 1st Ave. SW and a few industrial storefronts toward Ambaum. The area is safe, regardless of the close proximity to the bus terminal, and shopping is within walking distance of the homes on SW 146th St. Although traffic is minimal, it isn't a neighborhood where you should let your kids ride their bikes in the street.
