"The best "pocket neighborhood" within the North Beacon Hill neighborhood: views, safety, green space with access to city park, stores & light rail"
The main stretch of 24th Ave South in the North Beacon Hill neighborhood is sandwiched between the Jefferson Park golf course and the Seattle Park's Cheasty Greenspace, with eastward views overlooking Lake Washington, Mercer Island and the Cascades. The elementary school, Kimball Elementary, is an easy and safe walk. My home is on this street and I enjoy the views, the morning sun & bird song, and the occasional errant golf balls that land in my garden. Neighbors are friendly, some have been in there homes for decades. I'm a relative newcomer having been here only ten years. The homes are a mix of small bungalows from the '40's, mid-century homes and a few homes which have been substantially remodeled and modern. The street is closest to the Mt. Baker light rail station, but is also an easy walk to the Beacon Hill light rail. When I worked downtown Seattle, it was nice to walk downhill to the Mt Baker station on my way to work and, then in the evening, walk downhill from the Beacon Hill station to my home. (Of course, for more of a workout, it could be done in the other direction!) Both the Red Apple grocery store and the QFC grocery store are within a mile. Jefferson Park includes the golf course as well as a large city park. The Jefferson Community Center is located in the park, along with a skate park, playground, soccer fields, cricket field, lawn bowling and tennis courts. New restaurants are opening each year.

"Wonderful shortcut to the airport"
For south-end residents, bypass the highway for a quick shortcut to the airport or off of Hwy 518 on your way home. The street is abundant with foliage and most homes have some pretty colorful flowers in the front yard. Mainly a residential street, it is a main arterial, but traffic wouldn't suggest otherwise. There is an entrace to the updated community center and SeaTac park. Hilltop Elementary School is also located on the north end and Hilltop Park is close by off of S. 128th St., though not the best in terms of safe, fun, recreational parks. Highline Medical Center is also close by on Miltary Rd.

This comment does NOT apply to Seattle's North Beacon Hill neighborhood. The North Beacon Hill neighborhood is miles and miles north of SeaTac and no where near Hwy 518. Commenter SeaJen is obviously lost; so, don't follow her to the airport.
