"Cute residential street"
Beekman Place is a really small surprise of a street tucked away on the east UES. Its one of these great little streets that, unless you live in New York, you don't even know it exists. In the midst of all of these high rises and very commercial streets, this street is very residential and very upper crust. There are actual trees and actual homes instead of apartment buildings. They're very lush and very expensive. The street is very beautiful and quite expensive. Some of the homes and townhouses can be up to seven stories which is crazy. That's one person's home!!
There isn't anything on this street save residences but the street only stretches from East 50th to East 51st so I suppose it can be forgiven. Plus, when you're living in an actual house in Manhattan, I suppose you don't care much about having to walk a couple of blocks for a restaurant or grocery store.
Most of the homes are from the early 20th century so if you're an architecture buff and want to enjoy one of the few quieter streets in the city, this would be a good street to walk down.
