"Inside the Beltline at Reasonable Prices - Beckanna"
Beckanna is located at the very end of Ridge Road, just inside the beltline in Raleigh. It is very close to the 440 beltline, 3 miles from Rex Hospital, 2 miles from Crabtree Valley Mall, and 2 miles from Whole Foods and other shopping at the Wade/Ridge intersection (Ridgewood Shopping Center).
The neighborhood was built in the 60's and 70's with each home having at least a third of an acre. Most homes are very well landscaped with mature trees which provide a lot of privacy. You can find one-owner homes as well as young families in this neighborhood.
As far as prices, "inside the beltline" is known for expensive, older homes. The schools are excellent and many people prefer to live close to town versus out in the suburbs. Beckanna, however, still has homes under $400k. They may need a little updating, but it is a great neighborhood for anyone looking to move inside the beltline but doesn't have half a million dollars to spend. $400k would get you a 1500-1800 sq ft home.
Beckanna is about 5 miles from downtown Raleigh, fifteen minutes from the airport, and about 20 minutes from RTP. You can be in Cary in fifteen minutes.
The Raleigh greenway is up Ridge road near Wade Ave (about 2 miles away). Ridge road itself is a pretty flat road and great for running and biking. There is a bike lane along Ridge Rd and you see runners out all the time. From Ridge/Wade you can get onto the greenway and take the path to the new bridge that crosses 440 and takes you into Umstead Park behind the art museum.
All in all it's a great area for families or young couples. Plenty to do and close to everything!
