"Noisy but useful road"
University avenue runs parallel to the 94 freeway through San Diego, through Lemon Grove. It is a noisy street but offers plenty of shopping centers and places to eat. Personally, I would not live on University - too noisy and it doesn't feel all that safe. It is super helpful to as an alternate route to the 94 instead of taking College Ave. It is noisy but proves to be very helpful.

"This is the place to be"
There is so much to do and go on University Avenue. You do see a lot of students nearby, the parking is terrible but just park a few blocks away. Variety of good places to eat. Including cute, cozy cafe shops. This street has upscale furniture shops to second hand stores all on one street. If you ever visit San Diego, this is one of the streets to visit in the Hillcrest area.

"Hungry and good at parallel parking? This is for you."
University Ave in Hillcrest is home to some of the best happy hour specials and amazing food in San Diego. You can find just about any kind of food you can imagine within a few blocks. Parking is a pain, but the pedestrian nature and sidewalk cafes make it worth the walk. I usually wind up parking in the residential neighborhoods nearby and walking in. Once I've ditched the car I like to walk around and enjoy the atmosphere. Defiantly not for the uber-conservative crowd though.

"Great stuff to do day and night"
This street is wonderful for daytime activities, like getting a bite to eat or doing a little shopping. It's also great at night for wine bars, restaurants, and nightclubs. The people are friendly, and the streets are rarely empty. For these reasons, the neighborhood also feels safe. This street is also a central location for street fairs and parades in the area.

"Primary commercial corridor"
It starts way out east in La Mesa. It goes through the San Diego State neighborhoods. It goes through some rougher, low-income neighborhoods. It goes through the up and coming North Park. It goes through the hipster-infested gayborhood of Hillcrest, and finally ends in the old, beautiful Mission Hills. Miles and miles of businesses, services, and stop lights.

"my god, it's full of students"
Not that that's a bad thing. They tend to gather places where there's fun to be had, and this isn't really an exception. Bars and clubs and coffee house-type hangouts abound. Perhaps there's an overabundance, but there certainly are a lot of students. Good pace to stop for a bite if you're headed to the beach or for a drink on the way back.

"Bustling with activity!"
University Ave is the main street through Hillcrest which is San Diegos most diverse community. It has a very friendly mixture of people, wonderful restaurants, crazy nightclubs and fun, funky shopping. Great place to hang out if you like high energy.
