River Trail Dr
"Southern Names of Texas"
River Trail Drive is located in the heart of Smokey Jasper Park, a beautiful national park located in Houston Texas. If you are an outdoor enthusiast and need to get away from city life, even if it is just for a day, there are hiking trails with great scenery, and will relax you within minutes if you are stressed out. I love Texan Names they are very unique and southern and add a rich quality to the streets and neighborhoods of Houston Texas. Even if you decide you don't want to visit the park, just drive down River Trail Drive, and you will feel like you are driving out in the middle of nowhere and that you are the only person within a hundred miles of civilization. Even the most modern harden city slicker needs the feel of Southern Country living at one time or another, so take my advice. Drive down this tranquil road relax and enjoy the scenery. You will not be disappointed.

"Country Road Living"
Daisie Mae Road is a country highway surrounded by woods, and sparsely populated with a house about every mile or so. It is a great place for a scenic drive, or even a great place to travel if you need to get away from the noise, hustle, and bustle of the big city life. Some might consider it farming country, but not animals or livestock. Orchard farms are common to the area as you drive further toward the outskirts of Houston. Most of the houses are above middle class and quite large and spacious. It is an extremely quiet area, and the spirit of the neighborhood seems to be that every one basically keeps to themselves and goes about daily life at a lot slower pace then the busy modern city which is only minutes away. A great place to visit and defenately a great place to raise a family.

"Business District of Aldine"
Aldine Road is a fairly well traveled road during daylight hours and extremely quiet at night. It's main attraction is Aldine North Center, a mall outlet filled with many businesses, restaurants and shops. The main cross road would be Aldine Westfield Road which leads to the suburban part of the neighborhood. Most of the residents that live in this area commonly call it Aldine, almost like a small village in the middle of Houston. The people are very close knit and friendly, but basically keep to themselves. Many elderly couples live in this area and congregate for coffee every morning at a small diner located in the outlet center. And even though this neighborhood is located in the heart of Houston, the residents of Aldine rarely venture beyond Aldine for even there most basic needs.

Homestead Rd
"Don't Let this Southern Charming Name Fool You"
Homestead Road is an extremely busy highway located in central Houston. It is a four lane blacktop separated by a median, and well traveled by most Houston Residents to reach their work destinations and when they are out shopping, or looking for a few hours of entertainment. The view on either side of this highway is typically southern with lots of meadows and trees. As you drive down this road it has several residential areas that are clumped together between the scenery. The homes are middle to upper middle class, and most yards are fenced in. Most of the families that live in this area are young married couples with small children, and the overall feel is friendly and inviting. The highway is surrounds by several suburban streets with great schools, and minutes from the shopping district.

Quitman St
"Just Passing Through on a Daily Basis"
It is hard to explain this street in usual terms, and I thought about how I should explain it and decided the best wording for Quitman Street is typically southern, poor, and predominately African American. Picture deep south on television, maybe Shantytown, and that will give you a feel of what if looks like. I mention this street because I travel down it every morning, and every evening on my way to work and cannot help but stare out my window at the hopeless atmosphere you can see and feel. There is one bright spot right after you pass the railroad tracks in a honkytonk bar called Jumpin Jack Flash. It is very hillbilly and always filled with pick up trucks at any given hour. They serve home cooked chittlans and grits, and really cheap beer during happy hour. On Friday and Saturday evenings they have a live band the belts out country tunes where all the locals congregate and line dance while getting drunk. It has to be mentioned because it is part of all Southern cities in Texas no matter how advanced and modern the city may be.

"The Best Drive you Could Take on a Sunday Afternoon"
Arlene Drive is located in a tourist area that is well known for camping and outdoor recreation fun on the outskirts of Houston. It is only minutes away from Highway 105, and though not heavily populated, draws a large crowd of Houston Residents, and Texans on the weekend, and during the summer months. August is it's busiest time, drawing people come from miles around to pitch their tents and park campers for either a weekend or several days of camping and relaxing. There are several creeks and rivers that wind and twist throughout the area which attracts swimmers, and canoeing enthusiasts. If you were driving down this road in the pitch black of night on any given weekend, and saw splashes of light illuminating throughout the densely wooded areas, do not be alarmed, it is only one of the many campfires of a group of friends and family having an enjoyable evening surrounding a fire and roasting marshmellows. A great road to visit.

Peachtree St
"Suburbia With a Country Feeling"
Ernie Road is a spacious residential street considered part of Houston's suburbs, in a lower middle class neighborhood. The houses are spaced widely apart and most of the yards are considered large by today's standards. It is a quiet street, most the traffic generated by the residents who live in the area. It is located about fifteen minutes from downtown Houston and is paved with large trees. There are no sidewalks on either side of the street, but this only adds to it's country charm of a Southern Style road, and adds to the quality of peacefulness for the people who reside in the area. Throughout the adjacent streets, the environment is basically the same with a wooded country feel in the middle of a giant metropolis.

Clinton Dr
"Where Many Middle Class Americans Live and Work"
A black paved two top highway with rush hours evolving around factory workers. The entire area is considered the back bone of Houston's Middle class workforce, and both sides are filled with giant industrial factories, and a railroad. It is sparsely populated with houses but still many people spend more hours on this road and area businesses then they do in their own homes. If you happen to be traveling down this road at any given hour, you would hear machinery, loud noises of welding, and grinding, and the occasional laughter of men and women who are either on their break or taking a quick lunch. During the night time hours, all the parking lots are brightly lit and it seems like no one ever sleeps, because most of the factories are open twenty four hours and run in three shifts consisting of first, second, and third. Even the railroad is considered part of the pace of this area with trains loaded with consumer parts and/or goods traveling at lazy speeds to wherever their destination may happen to be. Clinton Drive is a definite Southern Road.

Cavalcade St
"A Busy Street that leads To a Beautiful Garden"
Cavalcade Street is a Major Highway that runs through a large suburban area in Central Houston. Many residents who live in this area use this four lane highway to reach the bustling downtown area, and the unique neighborhood of Kashmere Gardens. An upper middle class area whose ethnic background is mainly African Americans. They have resided in this area for almost one hundred years. When you are not surrounded by the suburbs while traveling down this street, most of the landscape varies between industrial and farming places of business. You will not find shopping centers, fast food restaurants, and markets in this area. Some of the areas you travel through appear run down but overall its a well traveled road in Houston, Texas.

"Southern Style But Gets You Where Your Going"
Wall Street is a uncommon roadway in Houston because while you travel down this road both sides of the road are covered with trees, and it is very sparsely populated. You literally feel like you are taking a Sunday drive on a country road somewhere in the deep south. The two main intersections that Wall Street leads into are West Montgomery Road and West Little York Road, which are considered major thoroughfares in Houston. The street is widely used to get from one part of Houston to another. It is one of the easiest routes to travel through central Houston if you want to avoid traffic lights and congestion. If you were an new resident to the area or just passing through and didn't notice the name you would assume that it was a highway instead of a street. So if you want to avoid traffic, while enjoying a scenic view, then you should turn onto Wall Street to reach your destination.
