"Standard Western SF Street"
42nd Avenue, running through both the Richmond and Sunset districts, is a fairly residential street, standard of the area. This means cool morning air, a decent amount of fog, two-story residential homes that are fairly close together, and a low amount of traffic but with many stop signs. Real estate is slightly more affordable, there are more families than young professionals, and although the nightlife of the city is a bit far away, the public transportation will get you there.
The one point of significance is that it ends at the VA hospital at Fort Miley. It also happens to be about eight blocks away from the beach, and even a foggy, cool beach is still a good beach.

42nd Ave
"Another typical Avenue of San Francisco"
42th avenue isn't that great of a street to live on. It runs about 8 blocks from the beach through both the sunset and Richmond districts. Housing styles range very slightly within the neighborhoods. Apartments, houses and condos are all available. The street just isnt't that exciting, it's not especially close to anything and the houses all basically look the same with the occaisional crazy neighbor that paints their house orange. This street is a typical avenue of the Sunset/Richmond districts; the houses and neighborhood’s attitude are basically the same in whatever area you are in. This street also crosses big streets with bus lines that can take you almost anywhere, like Judah, Lincoln, Clement, California, Geary, Taraval and more. 42th avenue is a straight shot all the way down, excluding the detour to get through Golden Gate Park which you will need to get onto the Great Highway to pass the park or wind through it at 41st avenue. 42th avenue also takes you down to the San Francisco Zoo and runs along the west side of South Sunset Playground.
