"Buses. Supermarkets and Polly Ann. Oh My."

A major east west street running through Sunset Parkside, Noriega offers a range of shopping serving the distinct populations of the Sunset. Home to supermarkets, laundromats, ethnic restaurants, Polly Ann Ice Cream, and houses and apartments, it is the epitome of San Francisco mixed use zoning. Noriega also plays host to a major Muni bus line which connects, via Haight avenue, to Market Street and downtown. It dead ends at the beach and at Laguna Honda. Finally, Noriega has a little slice of true crime fame, as the bank branch that the Symbianese Liberation Army robbed (with Patty Hearst's "help") is located at Noriega near 22nd Avenue.

"A resident friendly street"

Noriega is relatively quiet for a large street. Like Ocean, only locals seem to utilize what this street has to offer. Some students would visit this street for lunch every school day. There are supermarkets as well as convenient stores. Safeway, Walgreens, as well as some Chinese owned bakery and dim sum stores. The 17 muni bus line runs on this street and connects Market street to the Great Highway. Although the street is marked for one lane in each direction, the marked lane is relatively wide. There are parking meters for each slanted parking space available to the public.

"One of the busier streets in Sunset"

Noriega is a street located in the Sunset. It runs across Sunset starting from the Great Highway. It is a somewhat busy street sometimes. It is in a very peaceful neighborhood. It is close to many restaurants and stores. There are many good Chinese restaurants nearby. It runs right by Independence school. It is very near A.P. Giannini. It is very close to Sunset rec center as well. This street has access to many muni lines like the 29, 18, and 71. This street would be a great place for families because it is close to schools and parks.

"Noriega Street - a cozy gem."

Settled right in the middle of the Sunset District is Noriega Street, home to many happy residents and small shops. Noriega Street extends perpendicular from Ocean Beach all the way up to around 14th avenue. There are a lot of small produce stores and restaurants on Noriega Street. Around 43rd-47th ave. on Noriega Street contains a pizza shop, a hair salon, various produce stores, coffee places, sandwich shops, and liquor stores that are consistently filled with customers, many of who are surfers because the beach is close-by. Once you get up to about 33rd and Noriega, it consists mostly of Asian grocery stores and restaurants. This is a fabulous place to get dim-sum, snacks, and go buy meat for meals However, there is a Safeway, various gas stations, and a Walgreens along the length of the street when you go farther away from the beach, so not all the stores are catered to eating. Noriega is very busy and lively during the day. Most of the shops close by 10pm, so it gets quieter at night. Noriega is mostly a commercial street, and one of the busier ones in the Sunset District. It is a great place to grab dessert, hang out with friends, and relax on a Sunday afternoon.

"Noriega St. - a heavily Asian influenced streets with many restaurants and markets"

Noriega is a somewhat main street in the Sunset district of San Francisco. The street runs from Ocean Beach all the way up to around 15th Avenue. On 40th Avenue and Noriega, there are a couple of stores such as the popular Polly Ann’s Ice Cream which serves hundreds of unique flavors of ice cream ranging from the exotic Green Tea and Durian flavors to Mango and Rocky Road. Next to that is Eggettes which is a tasty place to buy tapioca drinks, and Dominoes for pizza. Up the block around 30th Avenue, there are many Chinese restaurants and food markets to buy dim sum, take out, and groceries. Up closer to 19th Avenue, there are a bunch of Asian cuisine eateries such as House of Wonton, Café Bakery, and the Noriega Teriyaki House. On Noriega, there is a Safeway and Walgreens for convenient needs.

"Sometimes busy and sometimes not"

Noriega Street is a semi busy street. The #71 bus line runs along Noriega Street all day and night. I have been to Noriega street a couple times and love to restaurants there. There are not only places to dine, but also parks and recreation area for everyone to enjoy. The houses are really nice and big, but they all look exactly the same. If your looking for a certain house on this street; good luck. There are not many things to remember Noriega street by, because its pretty much boring. Unless your going there to eat or to a nice park, not worth visiting.

"Grocery Street with lots of Traffic"

This street is an interesting street because of its vast quantity of foods. From about 25th street and up, you will see many grocery stores, like Safeway, 22nd produce, and many more Chinese grocery places. It is very convenient to live perhaps 2 blocks away because it would be a breeze to buy what you want for dinner. There are a various number of restaurants that serve Japanese and Chinese food. There are also 2 or 3 bakeries that bake very good tasting breads and cakes. Although this sounds like a great street visit, make sure you are an experienced driver because there are all sorts of crazy people double parking and jaywalking, so you should really be careful. Besides the traffic, the street is great!

"Okay street to use for commuting, many places to eat at with a park nearby."

Noriega Street runs from 8th Avenue all the way down to the Great Highway. Noriega Street is one of main streets of the Sunset District. Noriega Street in the Inner Sunset area is typically quiet and a residential area. In the Outer Sunset area, Noriega houses some well-known food installments such as ABC, Polly Anns, Eggettes, and other restaurants. During school hours there may be many middle school students crowded around Polly Anns and Eggettes as many AP Giannini students like to spend their money on ice cream, tapioca, and other sweets. As you go down towards the beach, you will come by a surf shop on 45th Avenue and a few restaurants. Noriega Street is also known for being the main route of the 71 Muni bus, as many people take the 71 to work and from work. What is also great about the 71 bus, is that it will take you all the way down Noriega Street to the beach. However, don’t expect a smooth trip down Noriega Street, once you go beyond 38th Avenue, you’ll run into a lot of potholes with your car.

"Nice and interesting place"

Noriega is a really nice street and is full of interesting activities and has great stores. Noriega is located in the sunset district and is a very lively street. Noriega has a lot of stores and most of them offer food and liquor. There is a great park located next to Noriega and is ideal for kids to go and spend some time being outside. There is also a Walgreen’s here so you don’t have to go to far to find the right pharmacies. There are a couple bars here but nothing really interesting for the nightlife.

"Busy, popular street, not ideal for living."

Noriega Street runs from 8th avenue all the way down to the beach. On the 8th avenue side, it runs straight into a small hill which you must wind around to get to the other side of Noriega. From 15th avenue and Noriega, it is a straight shot down to the beach. Starting on 19th avenue and going west there is a small Chinatown looking area with great Asian bakeries and restaurants. This street is usually busy and not ideal to travel down. Living conditions are hectic until you reach the other side of Sunset Boulevard. Past there, there are great typical sunset houses that are safe and comfortable to live in.

"Peaceful and Tranquil, but lively and fun!"

Noriega Street is located in the famous Sunset district of San Francisco. Noriega Street stretches from Grand View Hill through the Avenues all the way to the beach side. This beautiful street is an ideal place for couples, singles, and families to live.

From produce, to big grocery stores, to small pharmaceutical stores, Noriega Street has it all. Starting from the busy 19th Avenue and stretching all the way down to the beach, there are hundreds of stores. The Chinese and Asian populated is represented fairly well on Noriega Street as there are many Dim Sum, Chinese, and various other Asian restaurants stretching down the street.

The night life at Noriega Street isn’t the ideal place. There are various bars all the way down the street, but there isn’t too much action going on. The street is busiest around dinner time when lots of families come down to eat, but dies down around 9:30 P.M.

Sunset Recreation Park is a block off Noriega Street so the kids always have somewhere to go to shoot hoops or play in the playground. Noriega is excellent for public transportation as there are plenty of buses running down and off of Noriega Street.

Overall, I have enjoyed living on Noriega Street for the majority of my life. It is peaceful and tranquil but yet lively. There’s always something to do, and when you do want to get away, it is close to all the action in the city!
