"Another residential Western SF Street"

45th Avenue is a fairly nondescript, residential road that runs through the Outer Richmond and Outer Sunset districts, and comes with the same perks and pitfalls of other nearby streets. The area is near the beach and Golden Gate Park, but is more susceptible to fog and chilly weather. There is less traffic and more parking, but far less nightlife.

Overall, this is a safe, comfortable area to raise a family and is considerably less expensive than other parts of the city. As a young person, I would prefer to live further east where the nightlife is abundant and the sun even shines sometimes.
Pros
  • Near the beach
  • More affordable
  • Less traffic
Cons
  • Far removed from the city
  • Foggy and chilly
  • Poor nightlife

"Residential street close to the beach."

45th Ave. is a street that runs through sunset and then richmond. It is 3 blocks from the beach. It is a residential street mostly. It is not very busy. It is a pretty safe street and quiet. There is access to many muni buses like the 29 or 28. There are many stores and restaurants nearby. Many are on irving or noriega. It is also pretty close to a couple parks. It runs right by Independence school. It also is near the San Francisco Zoo. The homes here are very nice as well. Overall it would be a pretty good street to live on.

"Quiet street, but very close to the beach."

45th Avenue is another quiet street in the Sunset, however, not as quiet as others because of the short distance from the beach. Occasionally, residents on 45th Avenue will hear bikers and skateboarders zoom by their houses as they head for the beach. A lot of the surfers that you will see at the beach are probably residents on either 46th, 45th, or 44th Avenue (Surfers go to the beach often because of the short distance to get to the beach). 45th Avenue is relatively busy at the big streets such as Geary, Judah, Noriega, and Taraval. Transportation via the Muni is very handy as well. 45th Avenue is a great street to live on for those who seek a quiet residence, 45th Avenue is also a great place to take a walk on, as it tends to be quiet and with a great breeze.

"Great avenue to be on to be close to the beach."

45th avenue is a great street to live on. It runs a few blocks from the beach through both the sunset and Richmond districts. Housing styles range very slightly within the neighborhoods. Apartments, houses and condos are all available. The most exciting aspect about being on this street is definitely the fact that Ocean Beach roughly 5 blocks away. This street is a typical avenue of the Sunset/Richmond districts; the houses and neighborhood’s attitude are basically the same in whatever area you are in. This street also crosses big streets with bus lines that can take you almost anywhere, like Judah, Lincoln, Clement, California, Geary, Taraval and more. 45th avenue is a straight shot all the way down, excluding the detour to get through Golden Gate Park which you will need to get onto the Great Highway or 41st avenue to cross the park. 45th avenue also takes you down to the San Francisco Zoo.
