"Small street great for families"

Ventura Avenue is a very small street in the West of Twin Peaks district. It has beautiful big houses that are separated by green gardens. All the neighbors are friendly, you will find yourself saying hello to anyone when you walk through. This street may be confusing, just like the whole area. The street is winds around in a half circle. The traffic in this area is very light. Most of the cars that drive on this street are residents or people going to Forrest Hill Station. This area is very pricy if you would want to live here however completely worth it. There are parks and schools nearby. UCSF hospital is close, and also the 9th avenue and Irving shopping areas. The location and atmosphere of this street is just so unique. It is really great for raising a family or a quiet friendly lifestyle.

"Stop and Go street right off Haight and Cole"

Belvedere Street is a very nice street. It is on a slight hill but it is not bad at all to walk up or down. This street gets really confusing sometimes because it is not straight through. It is a pretty long street however there are some streets where it gets cut off for a block and continues on the other side of the block. The location of this street is just incredible. It is right off Cole Street which has great food. And it is also right off Haight Street which has amazing shopping, food, and activities. Golden Gate Park is in walking distance, also many different bus lines that can take you all over the city. The neighbors in this area are fun. They can range from really nice and relaxed or really mean or even scary. I would recommend this street for any type of living.

"Very happening street with endless things to do."

Haight Street is one of my favorite streets in San Francisco. Its most popular part of it is between Stanyan and Masonic. It has the most interesting shops and people all over. Shopping on this street is amazing. However I would not recommend living on this part of the street. Lower Haight would be a much better place to live if you were single or a young couple. Families would not be advised to live on this street. Parking down here is incredible impossible during the daytime. Night life is a little scary but there are bars and it could be a really good time. Hookah Bars are very popular around this area. It is very close to Kezar Stadium and Golden Gate Park. Ameba Music is down here and is a very popular attraction. Bus lines run down and around this street. The N Muni Train line is 2 blocks away. I would definitely recommend living near this street or right off of it.

"Large street with both living and retail"

Masonic Avenue is a large street that runs through Golden Gate Park. It has lots of small stores as well as big named stores. There is a large shopping complex located on Masonic and Geary. It has stores like Mervyn's, Best Buy, Subway, Taco Bell, and Office Max. Kitty corner to this shopping complex is a small diner called the Lucky Penny and next door to that is the very popular Trader Joe's. Because one of the most convenient locations of the popular store, Trader Joe's, it is usually really backed up due to overflow in the Trader Joe's parking lot. Masonic avenue runs along USF, you can see its large baseball field from the street. I personally wouldn’t want to live on this street. It is very busy and loud. There is a bus line that runs along it and it always has cars on it. And most of the people who live here are college students because there are mostly apartments and condos.

"Small, quiet street great for living!"

Alton Avenue is a very small street in the West of Twin Peaks district. It has beautiful big houses that are separated by green gardens. "Small and narrow in the Inner Sunset."

Lomita Avenue acts as a connecting ramp-like street that runs from Lawton Street to Moraga Street. It is a very narrow street, just 2 lanes wide. People tend to drive quickly on this street and it can be very dangerous. The speed limit is roughly 15 miles an hour I think. Houses on this street aren't too special. Houses are pretty close together, however they have a great view of Ocean Beach and the Outer Sunset because they are scaling a large hill. This street is a nice street to live on if you like to walk. You will always see people out of their homes walking their dogs or going on runs. It is close to a big mountain that is known mostly as Turtle Hill but that is just a nick name. It is also close to an elementary school and 19th avenue for your convenience.

"Short ramp like street connecting 15th avenue and 14th avenue."

Fanning way acts as a connecting ramp like street that runs from 14th avenue to 14th avenue. It is a very narrow street, just 2 lanes wide. However, you are allowed to park on one side of the street so it becomes a one lane 2 direction street. People tend to drive quickly on this street and it can be very dangerous. The speed limit is 15 miles an hour. Houses on this street aren't too special. They can be red flagged for landslide control if the weather doesn't play in your favor. However they have a great view of Ocean Beach and the Outer Sunset.

"Long Street with lots of variety in housing."

Quintara Street runs from 48th avenue all the way into the W. of Twin Peaks district. It is a straight shot from 16th avenue all the way down to the beach. The only detour you have to make is around St. Ignatius High School right after Sunset Boulevard. It is very ends on 10th avenue, if you are not familiar with the area maps are necessary. It runs in the Outer Sunset, Inner Sunset, and W. Twin Peaks districts. The houses start out a lot nicer, bigger and more expensive towards the east and get less unique and smaller as you go westward. It runs into St. Ignatius Academy and the very large Sunset Reservoir. You also pass by Lincoln High School. At the top on Quintara Avenue around Hoover Middle School, there is a big intersection where some bus lines take their breaks. This is a very easy street to drive down, there hardly ever any traffic. There is such a wide variety of housing on this street it is hard to make recommendations as to who should live where.

"Long street that can be very confusing."

Pacheco Street runs from 48th avenue all the way into the windy streets of the Forrest Hill district. It is a straight shot from 16th avenue all the way down to the beach, but you do have to go around a large reservoir at 24th avenue. The only other detours you have to make are before 16th avenue, it winds around a large hill, starting and stopping. It is very confusing after 16th avenue and if you are not familiar with the area maps are necessary. It runs in the Outer Sunset, Inner Sunset, W. Twin Peaks districts and ends in the Forrest Hill District. The houses start out a lot nicer, bigger and more expensive towards the east and get less unique and smaller as you go westward. "Basically straight through to the beach."

Ortega Street is my favorite street to take when I need to cross all the avenues from my house. It is a straight shot from 14th avenue all the way down to the beach. The only detour you have to make is before 14th avenue, it winds around a large hill that is in the way but straightens out again on 11th avenue and ends on 8th avenue. It runs in the Outter Sunset, Inner Sunset and W. Twin Peaks districts. The houses start out a lot nicer, bigger and more expensive towards the east and get less unique and smaller as you go westward. It runs by St. Ignatius Academy and the very large Sunset Reservoir. "Quiet, short street close to the mall"

Melba Avenue is a short street, running one block long between Ocean and Eucalyptus. It is located between 22nd and 23rd avenue and leads into a small parking lot of a private elementary school. It has big houses, similar to those typical sunset houses however there have been many additions to most of them making the block and area a little more unique. One block up from this street is a big reservoir. Many soccer games are held on the field next to the reservoir. This street can get pretty parked up. Between the events held at that small reservoir and the YMCA on 21st avenue and the occasional event in Stern Grove, people who live there do not have too many spaces readily available. Every house does have a driveway though. This streets location is pretty convenient. There is Lowell High School and Lakeshore Elementary nearby and also a Bus lines that run up and down 19th avenue. I think it’s a great place to live for people who have busy lives.

"Short, quiet and narrow is a great area."

Ventura Avenue is a very quiet, narrow, and curved street in the West of Twin Peaks district. It runs right off of Linares avenue and lasts only about one block. The houses on this street are beautiful. They are separated and full of green gardens. I hear there is a very strict home owners association protecting us from those crazy homes. Besides looking like a street from out of a classic movie, it is very close to different locations. There is a playground near by as well as a small pre-pre school day care center. 9th avenue and Irving, a hot spot for many resturants and shops is not far away. Muni lines run close by as well, at Forrest Hill Station as well as on Judah/Irving. I would definitely recommend this street to families with children of all ages however the cost of living here is high as well as availability. The streets are also pretty steep so it can be a good and bad thing depending on your personality.

"Quiet street with mostly marina style 5 houses."

41st avenue isn't my favorite. It runs about 9 blocks from the beach through both the sunset and Richmond districts. Housing styles range very slightly within the neighborhoods. The street just isnt't that exciting, it's not especially close to anything and the houses all basically look the same with the occaisional crazy neighbor that paints their house strange colors. This street is a typical avenue of the Sunset/Richmond districts; the houses and neighborhood’s attitude are basically the same in whatever area you are in. This street also crosses big streets with bus lines that can take you almost anywhere, like Judah, Lincoln, Clement, California, Geary, Taraval and more. 41st avenue is a straight shot all the way down, through Golden Gate Park on the sunset side, but leads out to another avenue so you have to turn right when exiting the park in the Richmond to get back to 41st avenue. 41st avenue also takes you down to the San Francisco Zoo and runs along the west side of South Sunset Playground.

"Great for traveling but it is not much housing available."

Traffic is very intense on this street. 7th avenue turns into Laguna Honda Boulevard and it leads around a small reservoir and leads into Woodside Avenue and Dewey Boulevard. This street runs by Forest Hill Station which is the home to the K, M and L muni lines which all go downtown and outbound to different areas in the city. Other above the ground bus lines have stops at this station that can take you to different places like into the Sunset or Excelsior. It is located in the West of Twin Peaks District. Even though there is limited housing, I wouldn’t recommend living on this street exactly. It is busy and large. Living right off this street is ideal because even just a block away, you feel more secluded. Clarendon Elementary school is also one block away from this street.

"A small street that cuts into an inner sunset block corner."

Lurline Street is a small street that starts on Funston Avenue and leads on to Kirkham Street. It is an extremely short street with not too many houses on the block. It starts out flat, and then turns and runs down hill to Kirkham Street. It is close to a Chinese Emersion Elementary School called Alice Fong Yu. I do not recommend going down this street during school drop off or pick up hours due to extreme double parking. It is a very quiet street in a nice neighborhood great for walking around on. It is also not too far away from Golden Gate Park which is a very well known park in San Francisco.

"Typical avenue but many parks are along it's way."

27th avenue runs from Vicante Street of the Parkside district all the way to the Sea Cliff district close to the entrance of the Presidio. There are a few detours on this street, on is the reservoir on Ortega to Quintara, and the other is bigger, Golden Gate Park. Crossing the park is difficult and can’t be don’t except on 25th avenue but it gets confusing to get to the other side. If you do weave around the streets and find your way, you will end up back on 25th avenue, so you can just drive back onto 27th once you’ve gotten out. 27th avenue is a cool street because it runs close to the 2 of the major high schools in San Francisco, running close by to Lincoln High school of the Sunset District and running close by to George Washington High school of the Richmond. This street has a variety of houses because it runs through such different neighborhoods. Most of the houses will be similar to Sunset family homes, but there are apartments and condos scattered here and there. In the Sea Cliff District you will find much larger houses and higher prices to go along with them.

"Short street running into Lakeshore Plaza's parking lot."

Havenside Drive is a small street leading from Eucalyptus Drive to Ocean, lasting about one block. It is the cross street address for the back entrance of Lakeshore Plaza’s parking lot. Lakeshore Plaza consists of Lucky’s Grocery store, Baskin Robins, Tully’s Coffee, and more. This street has typical sunset styled houses, but is located in the Lakeshore district. Lake Merced is close by and is popular for rowing races, and also runners. I wouldn’t personally like to live on this street because of the Plaza being so close. There are also many high school students walking around during school days and tend to leave garbage and not respect your living space. Other than that it has the illusion that it is a pleasant place to live. There is also an elementary school a few blocks away, as well as the San Francisco Zoo.

"Short cliche of a street in the Lakeshore district."

Westmoorland Drive is a very short street, about 2 blocks in distance. It is located kind of close by Lakeshore elementary school and runs into Eucalyptus Drive. It is fairly close to Lake Merced where many rowing races occur. Lakeshore Plaza is located on this street which has your basic grocery store and other food places like Arby’s and Clothing Stores like Ross. On Sloat, it has the 23 line which takes you down to the beach or into St. Francis Wood but after Sloat, Everglade Drive runs into Constanso way. All houses on this street are typical sunset styled and are great for raising families, especially with the elementary school so close. The area is completely flat so taking walks or runs are popular in this area. It is also in walking distance of the well known high school, Lowell High School and the zoo isn’t too far off as well. It is just because of the Shopping center that it gets busy occasionally, and I wouldn’t want to personally live next to so many businesses.

Kirkham Street is a very quiet street that is located in the famous Sunset District. It runs down the avenues starting at roughly 4th avenue all the way out to 48th avenue. I like Kirkham Street because of its frequent 4 way stop intersections so I sometimes take it when I want to leisurely make my way down to the beach. It is pretty flat on this street which is nice to get out and walk around. Irving Street is nearby for some shopping, mostly Asian store, or there is Judah Street which is the home to the N muni line which can take you downtown and beyond. Noriega Street is also popular and close by for good restaurants and a few other stores. Kirkham is a very typical street in the sunset, there isn’t really anything unique about it but at the same time, it isn’t boring.

"Small off street of West Portal."

Kensington way is a small street right off West Portal. It runs from the traffic circle at Dewey and Taraval down to Portola Drive. This is a very pleasant street to live on. The houses are all big and beautiful with great views. Kensington is on a small hill which gives it some privacy from other houses. There are only houses on one side of the street for the majority of the street. It is also a one lane street so beware of oncoming traffic. Parking is not difficult up here which is nice for being so close to the popular, West Portal. There is also a well known elementary school up on the corner. This is a great area to take walks and run errands. If you have the money to live here I definitely recommend living here with your family.

"Great food and small local stores with residential later on."

Irving Street runs from the beach down to Arguello Boulevard. It is the home of various unique inner sunset restaurants and stores. Food options vary; there are many Asian restaurants, pizza joints and more. Moving down the street towards the beach it turns into a more residential street. This street runs parallel to Golden Gate Park so it may be convenient to park on depending on where you need to go in the park. I wouldn’t recommend living near the business area of the street however towards the beach there is less traffic. I like this street because it is flat so many people walk around on it to get everywhere.

"Steep hill that runs up twin peaks."

Warren Drive is a long uphill drive up twin peaks. It partially wraps around the peak with Sutro Tower located on the top. It starts at Locksley and 7th avenue and runs up to Glenhaven Lane. The houses on this street are huge and are wide in variety, for example there are houses, apartments, and condos. They all have views of the ocean, and some of them have views of the Golden Gate Bridge. All houses in this area are under the laws of the home owners association of that area. The reason I am personally not a big fan of this street is because the steepness of the majority of the street and the speed that people go down the hill, I feel unsafe occasionally.

"Great connector street with many activities to do on the way."

Bowling Green Drive is a small street connecting Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Middle Drive. However, don’t be fooled by its length. Along this street there are many outdoor activities to do. For example, there are plenty of tennis courts, a well known children’s playground, and of course, bowling greens. There is green everywhere you look on this street. It is also close to Kezar stadium and Big Rec field where many games are held. Especially on Sundays and holidays, there are people walking everywhere so watch for pedestrians. People of all ages can find things to do in this area.

"Small street cirlcing stow lake."

Stow Lake is a great lake to take you family, friend, or date. Stow Lake Drive wraps around the west side of the lake, leading into West Stow lake drive, which finishes the circle around Stow Lake, and John F. Kennedy drive. In the center of Stow Lake is Strawberry hill which is a beautiful hill which you can walk around and view different plants and birds. Along Stow Lake Drive, there is parking which is located close to the boathouse where you can rent paddle or row boats. Feeding the birds on Stow Lake was one of my favorite childhood memories. This is a one way street which makes it barely noticeable when trying to enjoy the nature of Stow Lake. This street is unlivable however I recommend it to anyone that wants to get out one day and do something new.

"Calm street to take around Golden Gate Park."

Martin Luther King Jr. Drive runs from the west side of golden gate park eastward to Bowling Green Drive, also located in the park. It runs by multiple lakes which include stow lake, famous for its birds and paddle or row boat renting. Part of this street is closed every Sunday and holidays for pedestrians that want to spend the day in the park without traffic. On these days you will find many people biking, roller skating, running, etc, all over the park. This street also runs by the Polo fields where many events are held. There is no places to live on this street but I would recommend it for anyone to walk or drive along it.

"Cute small street with unique shopping and food."

West Portal Avenue is a small street with a lot of businesses on it. It runs from the multiple way intersection of Junipero Sera, Sloat, Portola and St. Francis to the train stop and Ulloa Street. This street contains many small stores that you could only find in San Francisco. It has great restaurants that are good for families, dates or anything. There are few houses on this street however you can live right off this street. It is located in a great neighborhood, everyone is friendly. 3 trains all run through this street, the K, the L, and the M line. It is a very popular place to take public transit from. Houses in this neighborhood are very expensive. I would definitely live here if I could because of its amazing atmosphere.

"Small, quiet, welcoming street."

Cecilia Avenue is a one lane street that wraps in a circle but has a let out onto Traval. It is located in the Forest Hill District. I take this street to school everyday. I enjoy driving on this street. It is on a slight hill but all of the houses are very cute and friendly looking. The front yards all always tidy and it is a very calm, welcoming street. It is close to Herbert Hoover middle school so at around 3:30pm every weekday, traffic is intense. I recommend this street to any family because of its welcoming vibe. Taraval is also very close by so shopping and good restaurants are always close.

"Always busy, compacted area with amazing views."

Parnassus Avenue is located in the Inner Sunset/Haight and Ashbury districts. It is what Judah lead into starting from around 5th avenue. It runs up the hill all the way to UCSF hospital and ends at Stanyan Street. You can find some really beautiful houses off this street. The views are amazing from here. There are bus lines all over this area. There are many hills in this area so if you have any knee problems or do not like to walk up and down hills this would not be the area for you. It is a very convenient street. Across the street from the hospital there are some fast food places for a quick bite and of course, the hospital is right there. This would be an ideal place for nurses to have apartments or for families that have children.

Middlefield Drive is a very short street, about 2 and a half blocks in distance. It runs right past Lakeshore elementary school and into Lake Merced Boulevard. This street is located in the Lakeshore district. It is fairly close to Lake Merced where many rowing races occur. It is close to Lakeshore Plaza which has your grocery store and other food places like Arby’s and Clothing Stores like Ross. On Sloat, it has the 23 line which takes you down to the beach or into St. Francis Wood. All houses on this street are typical sunset styled and are great for raising families, especially with the elementary school so close. "Enjoyable to travel on with little traffic through many cities."

Skyline Boulevard is a very large, fast paced street that wraps around the western side of Lake Merced. It starts on Sloat Boulevard and runs south through Daly City and beyond. After Daly City it turns into Skyline Freeway. It is a beautiful road to travel down if you even have the time. On certain parts of it you get great views of the beach and the lake. It cuts straight through the Olympic Country Club which has a beautiful golf course. There is a small horse stable closer to Daly City right off Skyline Boulevard that you can rent horses on and take them down to the beach. My only criticism of this street is that at night there are many rumors of racing because of its wideness, but I have never seen it before.

Lake Merced Boulevard starts at the northern end of Lake Merced at Skyline Boulevard and wraps around the east side of the lake into Daly City’s John Daly Boulevard. "Short off street of the avenues between the Great Highway"

La Playa runs from Kirkham Street all the way to Sutro Heights Park. It is a very small street which is the absolute closest street to the beach besides the great highway. This street is split by the famous Golden Gate Park, but continues on in the Richmond. If you like beach front living, this is one of the best streets you could live on. However there are mainly compacted higher rising apartments on this street. There is a cafe located on Judah and La Playa which stays open late. The best thing about this street is that it is right on the beach and you can go running or just lounge there anytime. You also get the fresh breeze 24 hours a day. Living here is expensive, even for a small one room apartment.

Joost Avenue goes through Westwood park area to Glen Park. It is close to Dorothy Erskine Park which has a nice green field. All the houses on this block are unique, they are hardly the same. "Varying street with great transportation."

California Street is one of the longer streets in the city. It starts at the Lincoln Park Golf Course and ends at the Embarcadero. There is Laurel Village which has small stores, like Emily Lee’s, as well as well known ones like Starbucks. CPMC hospital is nearby as well for any medical assistance. Transportation is great along this street; there is a bus line that runs up and down it that comes frequently and crosses major streets like park presidio which have convenient transferring busses. There is a Pre School located on 19th avenue and Judah. There are also 2 gas stations there as well if you need a quick fill up. "Very busy and compacted"

19th avenue is a wide, 6 lane street. It is always busy. It runs from Golden Gate Park out to the intersection with Junipero Sera, from there it turns into Highway 1 going through Daly City. I would not ever want to live on this street. There are constantly cars zooming by your house and it is extremely hard to back out of your driveway or to feel safe about your kids running around. This street has had multiple cases of cars hitting pedestrians. It is usually one of the fastest ways to get places however if there is an accident or too many cars it is difficult to get off and moves very slowly. There is a bus line that runs up and down it called the 28. It runs pretty frequently but is usually completely packed. "Quiet, but close to the action."

Moraga avenue runs from right before the base of twin peaks all the way to the beach. You have options to live in the hills, or in the flat beachside. Moraga avenue is a nice quiet street, however it is parallel to Noriega avenue which is like a small chinatown which has lots of good asian cuisine. There are schools that are close by and daycare centers as well. In the outter sunset part of the street, you are right at the beach which gives a nice breeze and keeps the air smelling fresh. It does not have a lot of traffic which is nice as well. There is a housing complex blocking the crossing of it on 19th avenue and it is split in half by a hill at 14th aveune which is actually a great spot for a great view of the city. "Quiet but still near street essentials"

I have lived on this street for around 9 years now and I absolutely love it. It runs from the sunset to the richmond and on both sides of the park there are roughly the same things. It is close enough to many bus lines that can take you anywhere in the city, but far enough away to not hear the sounds of them passing. In the richmond, it ends near a park which includes a beautiful lake. In the sunset, it is very close to a mountain you can walk up with a great view. Irving, Clement, and Geary streets are all cross streets of 11th avenue which have a variety of food and activities for night life. My only drawbacks to living on this street are that there are many 2 way stop intersections not in our favor, and that people tend to speed up the hills so it causes some noise. Other than that I feel that it is an ideal place to have any sort of family.
