"Nice neighborhood"
Referred with several names like Anaheim West, Anaheim Island and the Garza Island, Anaheim Island is comprised of many independent neighborhoods that are situated in the northwestern portion of the County of Orange in Southern California. This region was set up between the years of 1910 and 1960. Local residents also call it the “Gaza Strip”.
Some of the prominent neighborhoods within the Anaheim Island are the La Colonia Independencia, one that has about 1700 people. This region has many families who have called this neighborhood home for generations. Thus they have a close bond and sense of identity and pride with this region. Sherwood Forest is comprised of 206 homes that were constructed in 1955. These homes take up about 95 acres of land space and has this neighborhood bounded by Brookhurst Street, Gilbert Street, Orange Avenue and Ball Road on all sides. Some other neighborhoods include the West Anaheim, Southwest Anaheim, Rustic Lane and Mac Island.
The neighborhoods within the Anaheim Island are served by the schools operated by a few school districts – namely Magnolia, Anaheim City and Anaheim Union High School District. They can access 2 libraries – the Anaheim Public Library and the Stanton section of the Orange County Public Library.
