"One of the city's roads less travelled"
I lived near Gilbert Street for close to five years and found it to be a great back street to take when dealing with the congestion and traffic lights on Brookhurst St. or Magnolia Ave. were too much. The street itself spans from La Palma Ave. in the city of Anaheim clear to Garden Grove Blvd. in the city of Garden Grove. I call it the road less traveled because it’s rare that you’ll ever see this street back up, that’s most likely due to its heavy residential surroundings. The neighborhoods along Gilbert are on the average nice looking neighborhoods with single family homes and a few apartments sprinkled in between. Two major high schools can be found on Gilbert St., which are Savanna High School near Crescent Ave. and Magnolia High School farther up on the corner of Ball Rd. I’ve had friends that lived along Gilbert and it always seemed to be a nice residential area. The biggest thing I would say to avoid is trying to get down this street during the morning and afternoon hours that children are arriving or leaving school because those are the heaviest traffic times. It’s almost impossible to get through in a reasonable amount of time, so be warned.
