Jamboree Rd
"Effecient city road"
Jamboree Road in Tustin stretches through the city taking drivers from the bustling shopping and entertainment locations at the Tustin Marketplace to the corporate avenues of the city’s business plazas. Like any major city street it has its moments when it’s packed with traffic but when on the lighter side it serves as a great street to get you through town. One warning though, watch out for the transition of Jamboree from road to highway near the Walnut Ave. intersection because there won’t be many exit options that lead to too much of anything until you get to Barranca Pkwy. I found this out my first time driving in Tustin.
As a side note, a minor hobby of mine is to sometimes learn what I can about the history behind city street names. To my surprise Jamboree actually had a quaintly colorful past when I looked into it. Created in 1953 in preparation for the third National Boy Scout Jamboree, the then gravel road served as a perfect stretch for the first ever Jamboree celebration held west of the Mississippi River.
Now, the name Jamboree Road serves as a token of nostalgia for the festivities that took place on this once gravely road way back when.
