"Air traffic poses a deterrent"
Parts of S. 146th St. offers lush, green, quiet living...until airplanes fly overhead. Ground noise is quiet and peaceful, but the air traffic may deter potential home-buyers from this neighborhood. Providing a winding back-street access from Burien's 1st Ave. South to Des Moines Memorial Dr. South, the street picks up again on the east side of the airport with residential neighborhoods all the way to I-5. Generally considered safe, the noise from the airport and the interstate won't appeal to everyone, though housing costs are fairly low. Like most of the city, large, leafy trees line this street providing shade in the summer and nothing in the winter. Close to a couple of parks along the way, most of the shopping and restaurants can be found on the west end of the street in Burien.
